3 Types of Projection
Neurotic projection is the most common variety of projection and most clearly meets the definition of defense mechanism. In this type of projection, people may attribute feelings, motives, or attitudes they find unacceptable in themselves to someone else.
Complementary projection occurs when individuals assume others feel the same way they do. For example, a person with a particular political persuasion might take it for granted that friends and family members share those beliefs.
Complimentary projection is the assumption other people can do the same things as well as oneself. For example, an accomplished pianist might take it for granted that other piano students can play the piano equally well.
Psychological Projection
Psychological projection is a defense mechanism people subconsciously employ in order to cope with difficult feelings or emotions. Psychological projection involves projecting undesirable feelings or emotions onto someone else, rather than admitting to or dealing with the unwanted feelings. Have you ever disliked someone only to become convinced that the person had a vendetta against you? This is a common example of psychological projection. Luckily, there are methods you can use to identify why you are projecting your emotions and put a stop to this coping mechanism.
The Basics of Psychological Projection The theory of psychological projection was developed by Sigmund Freud, an Austrian psychologist commonly referred to as the "father of psychoanalysis." For this reason, psychological projection is sometimes called "Freudian projection." During his sessions with patients, Freud noticed that they would sometimes accuse others of having the same feelings they themselves were demonstrating. By engaging in this behavior, the patient was better able to deal with the emotions he or she was experiencing.

Do not jump to conclusions. Check yourself the moment negative thoughts start clouding up.
In a time of distress, especially interpersonal conflicts, spare some moments to look into the matter from the other person's perspective. Try to get in his/her shoes and understand what made the person behave that way. Notice how your attitude changes the moment you start empathizing.
2. Self-Evaluation Before observing and understanding others, watch yourself. To develop E.I., we must learn to assess ourselves objectively and look into our actions from a bird's eye view. Challenge your thoughts by regularly asking yourself questions like:
Am I thinking the right way? Should I have used those words today? How would I have reacted if I were in his/her place? Is there another way of looking into the matter? Am I on the right track? Is my family happy with me? Frequent encounters with the self enhance perception, creates humility, together which contribute to building E.I. 3. 1. Blatant lying First, people who gaslight tell obvious lies. You know that they are lying. The issue is how they are lying with such ease. The gaslighter is setting up an abusive pattern. You begin to question everything and become uncertain of the simplest matters. This self-doubt is exactly what the gaslighter
wants.
2. Deny, Deny, Deny Again, you know they said what they said. However, they completely deny ever saying it. The gaslighter may push the point and ask you to 'prove it,' knowing that you only have your memory of the conversation that they are denying happened. It starts to make you question your memory and your reality. You begin to wonder if the gaslighter is right, maybe they didn't really ever say what you remember. Consequently, more and more often, you question your reality and accept theirs.
3. Using what you love against you Additionally, people who gaslight use what is closest to you against you. If you love your job, they will find issues with it. If you have children, the gaslighter may force you to believe you should never have had them. This abusive manipulation tactic causes the victim to question the foundation of themselves as well as what they hold close.
4. The slow death of self One of the terrifying parts of gaslighting is the methodical timeline that the abuser uses. The manipulation happens gradually and over time the victim morphs into someone entirely different. The most confident human being can become a shell of a person without being aware of it in the process. The victim's individual reality diminishes and becomes that of the abuser.
5. Words vs. Actions Notably, a person who gaslights talks and talks. However, their words mean nothing. Therefore, it is important to look at what they are doing. The issues lie in their abusive actions towards the victim.

Bad names, according to IPA, "have ruined reputations, stirred men and women to outstanding accomplishments, sent others to prison cells, and made men mad enough to enter battle and slaughter their fellowmen."
Glittering generalities This technique takes "big virtue" words to which many people are emotionally connected and attaches them to the ends favored by the propagandist. Make America Great. Hope and Change. However, these kinds of words mean different things to different people and can be used in different ways.

Testimonials This technique is used frequently in marketing and advertising. Propagandists will use testimonials to legitimize an idea or position. This technique makes use of the fact that we more easily attach to specific personal narratives than to general facts and dry statistics. The personal narrative, after all, is the format by which we experience ourselves. "Anne Frank" is more accessible and comprehensible than "six million" and thus carries more emotion…

1. Always distort the truth to make you seem favorable and frame the target of abuse as unfavorable.
2. Always misrepresent your motives to be beneficial while hiding the principles of abuse that are being used in whatever action is taken.
3. Frame any call to responsibility or consequences as invalid, and deny, deflect, distract, and attack the source of those calls.
4. Always promise what the targets of manipulation want, frame what you are doing as delivering what they ask for, and then do whatever you want anyway.
5. Undermine any circumstances that stand in your way for example if a wilderness area you want to exploit is pristine, get in and make an oil spill then there is nothing left to protect; or if you want to destroy public education install an abuser, destroy the agency, point at it as a failure of government and then implement your private education plan for profit.
6. Isolate the targets of abuse by dismantling support systems, cutting off access to resources, and opposing anything that could bolster the targets of abuse.
7. Always take the best and leave the least possible for the targets of abuse such as funneling PPE dollars to military contractors while heath care workers use trash bags for protection.
8. Always use unfavorable circumstances to your advantage and if possible, turn circumstances against the targets of abuse such as allowing COVID to ravage blue states while funneling dollars to red states.
9. Always blame the victim for anything bad that happens to them or anything that you do to them.
10. Always pretend to be the victim in any situation, co-opt any symbols or methods your targets use for selfdefense.
11. Never allow scrutiny of your actions and always reject any investigations.
12. Use high control, propaganda, fear, threats, and manipulation to manage the victims of abuse.
13. Never admit to any wrong.
