The power outages and freezing conditions in Ukraine right now are insane. Greenland news and war “coverage fatigue” not giving it the presence in headlines it deserves. The humanitarian impact is absolutely staggering.

European goldfinch. Watercolour on silk mounted on paper.

I had to wash out and repaint the scapulars and marginal coverts three times. Hugely relieved it worked out in the end. 🥲

I'll post the full piece when it will be available at auction next week. 🙏

It’s Penguin Awareness Day! Here’s a diving Emperor Penguin showing off some of its amazing anatomical adaptations that allow it to survive and thrive extreme frigid environments. These birds are super cool aquatic avian dinosaurs!

Two more amazing Triassic reptiles. In this case from the Late Triassic Keuper Group of Europe. The huge phytosaur Nicrosaurus kapfii and one of the earliest plesiosaurs, Rhaeticosaurus mertensi

Part of my book of Triassic Tetrapods (currently in preparation)

Thought I might post a few sketches I've done for my mural (which I WILL post eventually I promise😅) of some of the plant life from the SW Portuguese Tortonian (Miocene epoch), namely the Ribatejo and Lower Tagus Basin in the Santarém district. Genera name in ALT. 1/3

Oh, chestnut horses, how I long to capture your glossy golden highlights, autumn-red lowlights and soft grey muzzles – but mere mortal hands (and color pencils) can only hope to transcribe a fraction of your beauty~

First finished piece of 2026!
Aptly titled "Funk Breaker", I started this out as a study of the remnants of a Christmas decoration. I happened to see it on the floor as my Mother was taking them down and decided to draw it in this more graphical style as a way to end a months-long artist funk.

Heads up for the #SciArt community. Yet ANOTHER parasitic Facebook account, with 125k followers, is stealing the work of real artists, myself included, feeding it into AI and posting without credit. Feel free to use this information in any way you choose.
