18/yo Paleo-art nerd aiming to be a paleontologist, my blood is replaced by ink. I'm really a fan of pseudosuchians, playing the piano, FNaF, anything Fujimoto writes and draws, and many other things. Btw: GET ME OUT OF VENEZUELA

Using high-resolution synchrotron μCT scans from the @esrf.fr, we were able to digitally segment each bone of the skulls (shown here in different colors), allowing their full anatomy to be studied in detail. (3/6)

Pratap Gurung captured this shot of the FABULOUS 🌈 Himalayan Monal (Lophophorus impejanus) or 'danphe,' the national bird of Nepal.

The amazing coloration is structural: photonic crystals act like a diffraction grating, turning sunlight into shimmering blues, reds, greens.

Introducing a new Permian reptile: Scyllacerta creanae

With a tympanic fossa on the quadrate and no lower temporal bar, Scyllacerta challenges long-standing ideas about when-and-how hearing evolved in reptiles 🦎👂

Two more amazing Triassic reptiles. In this case from the Late Triassic Keuper Group of Europe. The huge phytosaur Nicrosaurus kapfii and one of the earliest plesiosaurs, Rhaeticosaurus mertensi

Part of my book of Triassic Tetrapods (currently in preparation)

Lolong, reliably the largest modern crocodilian ever measured by humans, and a tragic tale that shows what happens when rural populations mingle with the natural habitat of such mystical creatures they're not prepared for, RIP Lolong.

Why is he about to beat me up for my lunch money
Sometimes I wake up to Jarvis staring at me from outside the bedroom door and I still laugh at how he looks from front view. Them bulldog shoulders

He looks way bigger than he actually is haha
