As Ireland secures Nitrates derogation, scraps airport limits and tries to scupper Mercosur trade deal, what a GREAT time to go to the EU with the béal bocht routine, begging to be saved from our own greed & stupidity yet again.
Irish MEPs have called for the EU to actively plan for future extreme weather events in light of the impact of Storm Chandra across Ireland, and to make extra funding available to help protect people against "the new normal".

One thing I would say is there are a lot of dead accounts in this. Something like a "active in the past 12 months" cut off may clean up a lot of stuff. Was hoping to find posters in certain communities to follow and 80% it was a graveyard of "last posted in 2024".

For the first time ever, wind & solar have overtaken coal in global capacity. That doesn’t mean generation has flipped yet (soon)— it means the world is now building far more future power from sun & wind than from coal. Capacity leads. Generation follows. Storage finishes the job. #Bettrification

A Labour MP tells The House’s Sienna Rodgers McSweeney’s resignation will mean “full speed ahead to uber-woke, net-zeroist, rejoinerism”.

Which sounds good to me, but is also very telling of the beliefs of the faction McSweeney championed.

What made that nuclear material? Heavy elements sinking via gravity to the center of the earth during planet formation frm the debris of a supernova. What caused that supernova? Solar!

Treat people in the Epstein files equal to what the Telegraph in 2018 would do if Corbyn was in there.

It's not at all about the solution, it's about tamping down political problems that could cost votes, and the scale of readership of voters to change those minds.

To them; Quantity not Quality.

Another reminder that being aggressively anti-fossil fuels on climate grounds is *also* something that helps ease the crippling $$ impacts of fossil fuels on our lives.

Anyone telling you these two priorities are at odds is 100% lying for nefarious reasons.

That slippery idea is still core to what instigated all this.

"We ensured Grok servers are hosted in the US"

OK, now what?

What is an AI model "within" the EU? Accessible over the internet in the EU? Hosted on a European data center? Downloaded locally? Is "AI" just the models? What about the weights fed into models? "Features" implies the X service focus, but "all" is a much more complex beast.

This was explained to me by a banker: Consumer off the street banking is a laughably small percentage of bank transactions in any given day. Deposits of daily business revenue of all the companies in the geographic vicinity, during business hours, is the core revenue generating function banks serve.

Wait, if a video game IP can be written off as a tax write off, why doesn't that IP then become public domain? If it's worthless, who cares who owns it?
