Does anyone know what United is actually doing as a part of this tech upgrade tonight?

It’s so impactful to its systems that the airline has removed hundreds (maybe closer a thousand?) flights from its schedule tomorrow since its systems won’t be up to handle morning departures.

the Epstein files make it very clear why the MeToo backlash was so extreme and why so much of elite society preferred Donald Trump ruling us like a king to the barest hint of accountability

It's #BlackHistoryMonth! We honor the contributions of Black leaders who shape our transit system.

Carmen E. Turner, former Metro GM (1983-1990), was the first Black woman to lead a major transit system.

She expanded Metro from 42 miles & 47 stations to 73 miles & 63 stations.

This is just insane. It’s only a matter of time before DHS kills another innocent person here.

Curious to see if other journalists note what all four of these people have in common
Lemon has one of the nation’s best lawyers and a national profile. I’m worried about the other reporter and two activists arrested with him.

It's funny though, during Biden we did hear stories about the WH Press Corps banding together in solidarity to run negative Biden stories in solidarity, in response to perceived rudeness/incompetence from Karine Jean-Pierre bsky.app/profile/vict...
They wouldn't stand up for the AP when Trump kicked them out over the "Gulf of America," they won't stand up for Lemon for covering the news. We're gonna need a really big iceberg when we retake power because a lot of folks will need to be set adrift into a cold exile.

You could imagine similar situations in which members of the media coordinated in solidarity around Lemon to direct sustained negative attention to Trump over this story. Instead the political press spent the earlier part of the week making up a fake story ("new tone") to help Trump.
This isn’t about convicting Don Lemon. It’s unlikely that will happen. It’s about intimidating journalists & making them censure themselves out of fear of consequences. It’s about eroding the free press because the administration can’t afford the criticism.
This just in: "Don Lemon was taken into custody by federal agents last night in Los Angeles, where he was covering the Grammy awards," Lemon's attorney Abbe Lowell says.

the president of the united states should not be allowed to personally loot the treasury to the sum of ten billion dollars and that this is not resulting in immediate, unanimous impeachment is a dramatic indictment of what has become of our political system
President Trump has filed a lawsuit against the IRS, in which he demands that the IRS, which he as president controls, pay him $10 billion.

And any amount of “opsec” in the sense of like, concealing his identity at marches completely defeats his movement. Imagine if nobody knew whether or not MLK was involved with the Montgomery Bus Boycott.

Right, the FORM of his resistance movement is just completely antithetical to "good opsec." If you want to critique MLK Jr. for opsec, what you really have to do is critique the antecedent decision to be a visible leader of a resistance movement that employed nonviolence to win over bystanders

Kicking people out and declaring press attention bad is how movements die
I’m not totally sure how to address this but apparently I’m getting kicked out of ICE rapid response for the moment because I’m allowing press ridealongs, with an extremely strict condition that no other observer be identified. Lots of observers have allowed ridealongs and they benefit us.

What? I received an anonymous message informing that I had been removed for violating a rule I'd never heard of, based on complaints I'd never heard, that I had no avenue of appeal, and that they would not be engaging further.

One of the worst things about the permanent damage Trump has done to US politics is that it's now assumed that he represents the default way to wield power. Biden was hands off with the DoJ. DoJ probably got a tip and investigated it, as they should. Insufficient evidence was found, so it ended.
Holy shit. The Biden DOJ investigated Ilhan Omar???
