I may be one of Gen Eds’ biggest defenders but even I admit that, so long as America treats higher education as an investment the individual purchases to better their own career prospects rather than a social good, Gen Eds will not effectively serve their purpose of making well-rounded students.

The ethos of #SupermanDay is helping those who need it when you can.

I made a list of 75 trans & nonbinary comics creators, with links for where to support them. I've also listed notable works, and a bookshop.org author link.

Please consider support if you can!

might be too real but in response to the dustin Nguyen post.

The greatest magic trick corporations pulled off was getting their consumers to defend them relentlessly. Dismissing usury, theft, predatory behavior as "well you need them so fuck you."

Today is #WorldObesityDay.

#Obesity is a complex condition and each individual faces distinct needs & challenges.

A healthier society is possible only if we prioritize community support & stand up against discrimination and stigma 🔗bit.ly/3SAcdeE

old Soviet joke for our times:

Guy stops by the newsstand every day, scans the front page, doesn’t buy the paper. One day the vendor asks what he’s up to.

Guy says: “looking for an obituary.”

Vendor says “those are towards the back of the paper, comrade.”

Guy says: “not the one I’m looking for.”

These are the kinds of comics that should be collected and preserved. This belongs with the "Angry Girlfriend Variant" of Spider-Man (Except don't slab your comics please!)
Behold!

My cherished copy of Lois Lane #80! An anonymous former owner altered the iconic Kurt Swan cover's Superman into a beatnik saying "hey, baby, cool off!"

Would I trade this for a "mint" copy? Are you serious?

A lot of people confuse writing with typing.

Writing isn’t typing.

It’s the entire process and yes that includes going for a walk or rearranging things in your office.
Sometimes you sit down to write and instead you think or cut or rewrite or unwrite. That’s okay. That’s a productive day because all of those are part of the process. Keep going.

You know how during an election we always say "if you're in line, STAY IN LINE"?

Here's the new version:
If you're in a federal job, STAY IN YOUR FEDERAL JOB.

Don't quit. That's obeying in advance. Make them fire you. Then sue them to stop it.

Keep fighting. Do NOT surrender.

Huge. PBS had a huge impact on my childhood. I got a jump start on learning before even starting school and developed my love of reading thanks to Reading Rainbow and LeVar Burton. It's crucial we protect PBS and especially the children's programming at all costs.
PBS is now live on Prime — ad-free — and you don't need a subscription to watch.

This marks the first time this programming will be available *free* on a major streaming service.

Channels include PBS Drama, Documentaries, Kids + live feeds for 150 local stations
