My favorite photos from the Olympics are of this Italian figure skater Daniel Grassl. He looks absolutely insane in so many of them. It's great.

I rewatched AKIRA (1988) and it actually hits better when you live through a collapsing society where you can just barely keep up with what’s going on. anyway perfect movie, one of the greatest ever made

If you've heard of Hell Drivers it's probably because of its improbably eclectic cast (it has a James Bond, a Doctor Who, a Man From UNCLE, The Prisoner and Sid James). But it's a cracking film too, an odd mix of down-at-heel film noir and kitchen-sink realism.

Explaining the plot of Scooby-Doo to my daughter and realizing the central irony of the show is that the gang cruises around looking for magic and mysteries that never pan out, while the only truly supernatural element is the talking dog they all ignore.

Around 2001—it may have *been* 2001—I attended a talk by Fred Ordway, tech advisor to Kubrick's 2001: A Space Odyssey.

He showed a photo of a briefcase computer prop, which didn't make it into the movie. Keyboard, video screen, camera, printer, phone.

Audience laughed. It looked so, so 1990.

I get up to all sorts on Patreon.com/frasergeesin if you fancy it.
