I fled to Mastodon before the proverbial really hit the fan on the fallen bird and I feel at home there so won’t be leaving any time soon. However - totally gobsmacked by the number of old friends I’ve rediscovered on bluesky and it looks like I’ll make some new ones too 🙂
Put my camera out to timelapse the helm cloud @lakesstiles.bsky.social and my tripod blew over after a few minutes - it’s a fierce wind!

I look through my window and what do I see? Blue sky! 😀 It’s been so dull today I was beginning to think it might be permanent 😞 #clouds #sky #weather

Worst storm we’ve had in ages. Continuous lightning and rumbles with mighty cracks and bangs. Scarily exciting. I don’t think I’ll sleep until this has gone through 😬

Very annoying when you buy something on ‘click and collect’ only to go to the store and realise you didn’t read the bit that says it has to be delivered to said store first and you can collect it next week. Extra annoying when you live several miles out of town #ConsumeristWoes

Late stroll. A stream of evening sun flows languidly down the road. Drama on a lamppost: two pigeons talk, then one turns and walks sadly away. Distant horizonclouds are misplaced alps. A shadow jogs flatly along the path. Strewn bikes cheerily await the end of the game.

Yellow rattle and white clover aplenty, for #wildflowerhour. This #Cotswolds wildflower meadow is fairly new - it was sheep-grazed short grass until a couple of years ago.

Another successful garden meadow year. Tip for anyone who hasn’t tried it yet - it’s not enough to just stop mowing! I seeded this with Yellow Rattle a few years ago. It weakens the coarse grasses and gives other plants a chance. Getting there 🙂 #wildflowers #garden

This stunning Black-winged Pratincole has graced Setter, Spiggie, Shetland for the last couple of days. Only the third record for Shetland following singles in 1927 and 2021.

Our Urban Gardens occupy more area than all of England's Nature Reserves combined, yet we are destroying them at a faster rate than ever.

The Ecological Importance of Urban Gardens
Introduction Our street is much like any other in the UK, it’s in the middle of a largish housing estate, built in the 70’s and situated between boxy brick council houses built in the 50’s and a gr…
