Crocheting, gardening, and reading.
I had a mix tape but never learned to make one myself; I wasn’t fancy to have my own waterbed but I’ve been on one; just missed the Walkman but had a mini stereo thing; of course I played with the phone cord, what else was there to do while sitting on the floor next to the phone?
Perfect score of 20 for myself. What about YOU? #OldAsDirt

Did they really only allow the 1 woman half a body there, with extra space on the other side of the image? I mean, I see it, I just can’t believe they’re that blatant
I guess it's fitting that it's a reimagined, worse version of someone else's artwork

I sound like a conspiracy theorist even to myself, but I think my city council is planning to sell our downtown central library and city hall to a casino. And no one is talking about at least the library part, very little about the casino part, so it’s difficult to push back.

Means testing and sussing out freeloaders tends to cost just as much as if we'd just let it go, honor system style! So exasperating.

An issue we're seeing at all levels of university is that many students are simply refusing to do *anything*. They aren't reading the syllabus, aren't following assignment guidelines, aren't engaging with material, ignoring deadlines. And this might seem like old news, but it truly has ramped up.

also, a #narrativedisorder angle: contrast this grim picture with the decades of media showing us totally unrealistic projections of what it's like to live in the US, from the NYC apartments of FRIENDS to idk the suburbia of TO ALL THE BOYS I LOVED BEFORE to any small-biz romcom...
This is an insightful but deeply upsetting article about why everyone in the US feels poor, and why the current political situation emerges as a direct result.

If you use GMail, AI (Gemini) was turned on yesterday by default and now scans all of your content for machine learning. To turn off, go to Settings>General and scroll down. Uncheck the box for "Smart features."

There's other "Smart" add-ons as well, but that's the one that reads your content.

@rahaeli.bsky.social Tagging you because you seem to know most things - I've been having trouble with proprioception after Covid (I mask in public but have roommates), and was wondering if you had any suggestions about ways to improve it? I've taken 1 flight since 2020, and when I closed my eyes it

Tomorrow is the last day of vacation. Don’t they get 12 weeks off a year in Europe? That’s 1 week a month - gosh that’d be nice

1. Reading a good book.
2. Hiking when it’s not hot.
3. Eating meals with friends.
4. Starting an interesting new craft project.
5. Hot chocolate from Starbucks (though first choice hot chocolate is the no sugar version they sell in the street in Laos).
1. Really good plain coffee (hard to find these days)
2. Long walks in light rain or just after it's rained (especially if combined with #1)
3. The bunny
4. Flowers
5. Taking pictures

After years of planning, I finally put up a free little library - first in my neighborhood. The Friends of the Library have been giving me leftover books from their sales, and I’m right on one of the feeder streets to the park.

I haven’t stopped thinking about the skirt that @dieworkwear.bsky.social posted a few weeks ago, from the tailor in South Korea who hand sews everything. Does anyone know if there are sewing lessons online for something like this?

I’m 41 and definitely in the “ongoing” part of this feeling. Before he died my dad was reading several books on experiences of the afterlife, and the conclusion was that our purpose here is to be kind. So I try and be kind, even in the midst of everything. I’ve already had so many life pivots 1/2
Those of you 40 and up… how did you manage that whole “what am I doing with my life?” “Did I waste my life?” Feeling

(obvs if you didn’t feel that way this question isn’t for you)

Stage manager/traveling stage manager. I’m great with organizing details and also at telling people what to do. Not sure how long I could do it though, I bet the stress adds up.
What job are you extremely unlikely to ever get that you think you would kick ass at?

I think I could book compelling wrestling storylines.

A cold front in Texas in July, amazing. The perfect time to get some gardening done, but I might just settle for sitting next to the open window.
