I don't like how the rise of fascism on both sides of the pond seems to be pretty directly about wanting to use the power of the state to punish people you don't like who you saw online. Seems like the small-l liberalism values in people break down when they're confronted with what people think.
Having had a day to think through everything about El-Fattah, here's where I stand. Yes, it's possible to believe all of these things at once! In fact, it really shouldn't be that hard.
