If the U.S. is going to conduct gunboat diplomacy, I'd hope the long-suffering people of Venezuela would at least get from it a fighting chance to regain their place among democratic nations. Yet Trump kicks to the curb Maria Corina Machado's opposition party, which won the election Maduro stole.
“Weeks earlier, U.S. officials had already settled on an acceptable candidate…Delcy Rodríguez, who had impressed Trump officials with her management of Venezuela’s crucial oil industry…intermediaries persuaded the admin that she would protect and champion future American energy investments…”

Along with so much else, Trump, Miller, Rubio, Hegseth and Ratcliffe are lying to us about Venezuelan history—they didn't steal our land or oil—but they're confident their base is too stupid to know that and too venal to care, and in *that* they're correct
Trump says Venezuela stole U.S. oil, land and assets. Here’s the history.
The government of the oil-rich nation took control of its petroleum industry in 1976, nationalizing hundreds of private businesses and foreign-owned assets.

U.S. military spending is set to hit a record $1 trillion.

Roughly half of defense spending goes to private contractors that routinely price-gouge the government.

Meanwhile, the Pentagon has failed EIGHT straight audits.

This is the military industrial complex on steroids.

Nothing about this quote about a “ballroom” suggests “peaceful transfer of power.”
Trump on the ballroom: "It's bigger than I told you. It's, you know -- after realizing we're gonna do the inauguration in that building, it's got all bulletproof glass, it's got all drone, they call it drone-free roof. It's dronessss -- won't touch it. It's a big beautiful safe building."

-New White House ballroom
-New Air Force One
-Name on the Kennedy Center
-And now marble armrests

Are you impressed with all the things he’s doing for the majority of American people?

So if you're a family evicted from your apartment, or a mother fleeing domestic violence with her children, or someone unhoused trying to get off the street or out of their car for a night... you're not allowed to stay at these Asheville hotels.

Just unabashed discrimination.

A Hampton Inn in Asheville just canceled my family's reservation because our address (incorrectly) showed Asheville—and the hotel bars locals within 50 miles.

When I asked why, they said, "because of our homeless population," adding that most hotels here have similar policies.

This is outrageous.

A few months ago, ICE agents shot a TikToker. The govt then charged him, alleging he tried to ram agents

Well guess what?

Body-cam footage -- which the gov't delayed disclosing -- shows that's BS.

The agent shot by mistake.

And a judge just dismissed charges.
