Pinning my favourite try of all time to my profile so I know there's always something nice to look at on BlueSky.

I don't love the Fallout TV show, but it's so well made, and it works for me better than (the Bethesda) games. Unlike them it's a world I actually enjoy being in. The characters are great and the bone-dry humour is a nice change of pace.

Wouldn't rush to see season 3. But I will watch it.

This all looks very stable international governance to me; I dunno what your problem is, Pope.

A Kurdish woman dying in the snow of Alaska while wolves howled in mourning.

Remember it every bit as clearly as the first time I went abroad, won the regional sprint, read LOTR, shagged someone, or sat mesmerised by The Crucible at Leicester theatre.

Screentime as a negative is a myth.
Just saw an ad that started out "your kids won't remember their best day of screen time" and while I of course broadly agree with the sentiment that you should do activities with your children, don't tell me i don't remember beating zelda a link to the past

There's a decent-but-not-spectacular movie hidden in the six episodes of #AKOTSK.

Short season, short episodes, and it still feels like it's padding for runtime.

They raided the jailed children to steal their letters.

The problem, in federal officials' minds, wasn't confining children in prison-camp conditions; it was that the children could tell the public about it.
“I don’t want to be in this place I want to go to my school.”

- 7 year old imprisoned by ICE for 70 days in a concentration camp in Texas.

Today, after @propublica.org published this story, the camp was raided to confiscate letters from the children.

Past the emotion of battering England on Saturday, it IS fair and necessary to give Townsend credit. Whatever else you say about the man, he almost always spoils the day of Scotland's oldest rival. That's good. That's great!

But it was progress years ago. Not now.

@stevendeknight.bsky.social However many years ago it was, you made me believe for a moment that what I knew didn't matter and the story could be different. Then you pulled the rug. So a nice little callback & payoff for me watching this finale.

Really hope you get that second season, mate. I'm in.

Last week my Just Eat lunch was listed as "being prepared" for over an hour. AT MCDONALDS.

And because of that, couldn't cancel the order & go elsewhere. Complained via email and was promised a response within 48 hrs.

When it arrived it was freezing. Clearly sat there for all that time. So...

Ptolemy was lazy AF and I hope someone called him on it.

"It's a baby horse."
"It's two lines, mate."
"Use your imagination."
"Why don't you use YOURS and draw some more? Can't believe you get paid for this, FFS."

Right next to the old one.

I have never heard a good story about Marlon Brando.
Here's a photo of the late Robert Duvall wearing cue cards on his body so that co-star Marlon Brando could see his lines during the filming of The Godfather.

HOW HAVE I NEVER HEARD OF THIS FILM?

(Whole thing's on YT btw and Duvall is doing... an accent)

Look, I dislike the UK more and more pretty much every week at the moment, but getting on the electoral roll is a piece of piss, voting takes 5 minutes with a pencil cross on a bit of scrap paper, and the worry with the next election is what bastards we'll pick; not that we won't be able to.

Moaning about "screen time" is just moaning about kids and modern technology, and the way you know that is no one, ever, talks about what the kids are doing; the assumption is always something mindless.

Wikipedia and books live on their phones every bit as much as Candy Crush and texts.

And it was SO BAD.

Which no one remembers because they never repeat season one but the running myth is it only got renewed because the outgoing head of BBC2 wanted to screw over their successor.

And then season 2 came along and it was brilliant.
Red Dwarf started 38 years ago today on BBC Two with the aptly named "The End".

First PC game (for the first family PC) I ever owned, played on mute for a very long time because neither I nor my parents had any idea how to jiggle MS DOS. The day I finally cracked it and heard sound was very cool.
X-Wing (Totally Games/LucasArts) was released circa 33 years ago.

I find it hard to accept that so many of my fond memories are a third of a century old. 😅
