I wrote about Bari Weiss doing the hard work of defending the rich and powerful www.thenation.com/article/soci...
Bari Weiss's Counter-Journalistic Crusade Targets "60 Minutes"
The new editor-in-chief at CBS News has shown she's not merely stupendously unqualified--she's ideologically opposed to the practice of good journalism.

For @thenation.com, here's my obituary of Norman Podhoretz—the last canonical New York intellectual, and the first of a now-familiar breed of discourse demagogue
The Longest Journey Is Over
With the death of Norman Podhoretz at 95, the transition from New York’s intellectual golden age to the age of grievance and provocation is complete.

The republic would be in far better shape if we devoted more attention to Sabrina Carpenter's views than we have to the exploits of Olivia Nuzzi and Ryan Lizza
Pop star Sabrina Carpenter slams the White House for using “Juno” in an ICE arrest video:

“This video is evil and disgusting. Do not ever involve me or my music to benefit your inhumane agenda.”

The 1935 Novel That Predicted Trump’s Second Term
Sinclair Lewis imagined an American version of the rise of fascism in Europe. His predictions didn’t come true then, but seem eerily familiar now.

The socialism of fools without the socialism
There’s no daylight between what Candace says here about “the Jews” & what Nazi propagandists & Father Coughlin said about the Jews in the 1930s. Her show is one of the top 5 “conservative” podcasts in the US. She has 5.5 million subscribers on YouTube and 7.3 million followers on X.

Turns out that ruling on the brutality of a sandwich assault is a lot like adjudicating a reception in the NFL
Defense says that the officer's testimony was "very questionable" because he said the sandwich both exploded in spray of mustard and onions and also landed in its wrapper on the ground.
