In Printz v. United States, #SCOTUS held that the Constitution bars the federal government from forcing or otherwise compelling local or state governments to enforce federal law.

The liberal squish who wrote the majority opinion in that case? Justice Antonin Scalia:

This kind of messaging is intended to drown moms in research, risk, and responsibility.

The goal is to keep them so anxious and so busy that they can't work for pay--especially not in high-powered "mens" jobs--or get involved in any kind of efforts to push for progressive change.

Yesterday Elon Musk retweeted "white solidarity is the only way to survive". In our numb overwhelmed media environment it barely made headlines that the world's richest man endorsed blood-curdling white nationalism. My brief writeup for @religiondispatches.org

On Thursday morning Elon Musk retweeted (with a ‘100%’ endorsement) a post declaring that: If white men become a minority, we will be slaughtered. Remember, if non-Whites openly hate White men while...

New verse for our theme song just dropped:

And the penalty for 'disrespect' is death🎵

Do pundits get it yet?

Misogyny is and always has been the glue binding together the multi-racial, cross-class coalition Trump created, across three elections.

This seems incredible to read, as it could come straight out of an Orbán 2015-16 speech, but this has actually been a dominant position within the broader U.S. Right for decades. 🧵
Europeans are waking up this morning to find the new US National Security Strategy (quietly) released. And what it has to say on Europe could not be clearer. On the „stark prospect of civilizations erasure“ for example. 👇

Simply amazing that the Supreme Court declared an end to legal race discrimination in the affirmative action case two years ago and now allows overt racism in both immigration arrests and redistricting.

Using race to help minorities? Bad. Using it to discriminate against them? Very, very good.

Heartbroken to see the NSSR is being culled—and especially that it is happening in this way (with utmost callousness) and at this time (when left/critical theory is so needed). Cannot imagine having a political science PhD from any other institution and hope this isn’t the end of the road for NSSR.
as a quick follow up: TNS triumphantly sent out an email earlier today that our Middle States accreditation warning was finally resolved!

the same day—following months of claims that students in existing programs wouldn’t be negatively affected by restructuring—they sent this to NSSR/other faculty.

I would love nothing more than to dump the NYTs for a news source that doesn’t ask if women ruined the workplace, base its reporting on crime exclusively on talking to the NYPD, pretend a genocide isn’t happening, or present transphobic talking points as neutral reportage.
Other folks have said it, but let me just note that:

(1) lots of talented, must-read journalists have been let go from their jobs over the last year

(2) millions of Americans are abandoning current media outlets and looking for new alternatives

Seems like a sure-fire business opportunity here?

Andrew Cuomo has nothing to offer New York, so he’s resorting to racist, classist, and anti-Muslim fear mongering. It’s long past due for Cuomo to learn that no means no.
Andrew Cuomo’s campaign just posted — and quickly deleted — this AI-generated ad depicting “criminals for Zohran Mamdani.”

Features a Black man in a keffiyeh shoplifting, an abuser, a trespasser, a trafficker, a drug dealer, and a drunk driver all declaring support for Mamdani.
