Can really distinguish between the smoke plumes and the front using spectrum width! Lots of turbulent flow along the boundary (hence the high variance in velocity). Lower spectrum with from the smoke since they are stemming from a point and drifting with the low-level mean wind.

4:53 PM EST, 12/17: The latter half of #December is going to remain in a fixed pattern of #rainy and #windy along the west coast (mostly wind in the interior), or #snowy and windy across the northern tier. Also...expect windy conditions in the eastern portion as well (just not alerted yet).
