🚨HOLY CRAP. An ICE whistleblower just revealed a secret memo authorizing ICE officers to break into homes without a judicial warrant, which DHS's own legal training materials say is unconstitutional!
ICE then hid the memo from the public, passing it along by word of mouth and private conversation.

Continuing to monitor potential for ice in the Houston area. For the Houston area, this will likely be an inconvenient but most likely manageable event. If you have travel plans Sat night or Sunday (looking at #AMS2026 folks), there will likely be challenges.

I just can't even with the oneupsmanship on weather in social.

Latest on risks of freezing rain this weekend. It remains a very fluid, changeable forecast. Check in daily for updates.
It will be warm in Houston this week until it’s not. An Arctic front arrives Friday night to drive temperatures down to their coldest level of the season. We are tracking the dual threats of a hard freeze this weekend as well as the potential for freezing rain and icy roads.

A M4.9 quake occurred this evening north of Indio. It is east of the San Andreas fault, far enough away to not change the likelihood of a quake on the San Andreas. It's located very near the minor EW-striking Blue Cut fault

I just want to emphasize for Texans that with the potential of wintry precipitation this weekend there is a lot of uncertainty and that is likely to continue for several days. Last year’s forecast looked like snow from the beginning which was easier. This looks not like snow, more difficult.
