We’ve broken an unfortunate record. Extreme Drought (bright red) has expanded at an incredible rate and is now the highest ever recorded in #Florida at 67% or two-thirds of FL surface area.

5 model morning model run (12Z) comparison. Fairly bullish for a Nor’easter… except the Euro which has not come around. What could go wrong? Block is too strong and system is forced south and out to sea. Would not be a complete miss… but it would avoid major/ blockbuster status if so. Stay tuned!!

5 model morning model run (12Z) comparison. Fairly bullish for a Nor’easter… except the Euro which has not come around. What could go wrong? Block is too strong and system is forced south and out to sea. Would not be a complete miss… but it would avoid major/ blockbuster status if so. Stay tuned!!
🥶 ❄️ Buckle Up! Wild weather ride coming up! After a record warm week in the Central & South US, the weekend will end with a “potential” blockbuster Nor’easter, perhaps big #snow, drilling #cold air into the Deep South and #Florida early next week. 30s in Florida with wind chills in the 20s! 🥶 ❄️

❄️ The weekend Nor’easter set up, IMO, is pretty darn good! Sure it has lots of model support. But it also has meteorological support. Strong western ridge and block north in Canada, which allows the system to slow, tilt and intensify. 1/

⚠️ Pacific Pounding the next two weeks as a series of storms bombard the region. Up to 15 feet of mountain #snow and a foot of coastal #rain with severe flooding possible. The water is welcome due severe snowpack deficits, but this could become dangerous at times. ⚠️

Weather Whiplash returns to the South and East. By mid to late week record heat will spread eastward, making for a toasty late week / weekend. Then a strong cold surge early next week reminds us it’s still winter 😜 from 30° above normal to 15° below for some.

We say #snowmageddon as a joke, but if ever there was a time to use it, it’s now!! Watch as the West Coast gets bombarded by at least 5 storms in 15 days, with up to 15 feet of snow in the high Sierra, and that may be an underestimate if the models verify. NWS says up to 8 feet by Wednesday!

This is the worst #drought in 25 years in much of #Florida. We are a foot behind since Sept 1. It’s the driest such period on record! The good news: we may add an inch Sunday night. We’ll take it… But clearly it’s nowhere near what’s needed. Gonna be a tough spring as we head towards fire season.

2nd most severe winter in Central #Florida history! At least so far (tie). That’s the assessment of NOAA’s Accumulated Winter Season Severity Index (AWSSI). Records go back to 1950. Severe #cold and multiple #freeze days have resulted in an estimated Billion dollars to FL Ag due to crop damage..
