There’s a good chance the British Prime Minister’s main adviser on AI is an OpenAI shareholder - but the government refuses to say whether she is.

What a great day that was
#OtD 10 Nov 2010 50k students and supporters marched in London against the tripling of university fees and the abolition of EMA grants. Breaking away from the official demo, 1000s of people occupied and trashed the governing Tory HQ at Millbank stories.workingclasshistory.com/article/8238...

Famously, houses that are lived in by the owner rather than a tenant will vanish into a puff of smoke. Happens all the time
Surely there are some better arguments on the pro landlordism side of the debate than implying that if a landlord doesn't own the house, the house ceases to exist??

The police have put this through my door and I am *livid*. A fucking website for grassing up your neighbours!! Get bent

I’d rather be let down by the Green Party actually *trying* to make our lives better because at least you could say they’ll have a go. We’ve been let down by Labour deliberately & intentionally making life in Britain harder & making crap excuses for punitive political choices
EXCL: The Green party is offering “simple solutions to complex problems” and making “undeliverable” promises to voters ahead of next election, PM's chief secretary Darren Jones tells me 👇

Greens’ ‘undeliverable’ promises will let voters down, says Labour minister
Exclusive: Darren Jones says Labour has to convince young people it is ‘modern party of the future’

Whilst in many ways I’m delighted that we haven’t had to put the heating on yet in others I am looking at 14 degrees in November with horror

This might have been true 20 years ago. Unfortunately it is no longer the case. As the people whose actual memories of war have died, we've replaced sombre remembrance with fascist purity tests and crass celebrations of violence.
One of the most precious things about Remembrance is that it sets no political tests.

It asks only that we "remember", and that we do so in the silence of our own thoughts.

It doesn't dictate what we remember, how we remember or what lessons we draw.

That's between ourselves and our conscience.🧵

Amazing how often ‘fighting for women’s rights’ involves allying yourself with known perpetrators of violence and/or harassment against women.
She’s being interviewed by Rod Liddle here, by the way. Yes, the one that got a police caution for attacking his pregnant wife, that one.

One of my mum’s friends is facing redundancy because her employer cannot afford to maintain current staffing levels due to NI hikes making the staff wage bill unmanageable. Her partner is disabled, and has just had his PIP stopped. So Labour are changing their lives by making them terrified & skint.
As a Safety manager in the NHS, Labour is most likely making me redundant, and I could lose my house. Making NHS patients less safe in the process.

How are Labour policies changing your life?
Why aren't Labour's life-changing policies connecting with voters - and what can the party do? It's down to messaging, how it's told, and the messengers...

Real mystery why nobody likes a government propping up genocide, demonising trans people, taking away winter fuel allowance & immiserating disabled people isn’t it

If ever there was a man who so clearly only ever orders chicken korma and a plain naan it’s Keir Starmer

I think if people are going to get a dog that they propose to take for walks in densely populated areas then there should be some sort of rule that they can’t get a dog that is very clearly bigger or stronger than they are

Sam Altman is committing corporate manslaughter. OpenAI is horrific and dangerous & it should be forcibly shut down immediately with Altman himself fired into the sun

Luke himself of course going down like a cup of cold sick in North Durham, where people not unreasonably assumed they were voting for a Labour Party person given the red rosette but are now discovering they are represented by one of the most reprehensible pieces of shit in the entire party
When your politics are awesomely popular with an enthused and passionately supportive public, and you personally are beloved by all

I love it on trains back to London at night from the west when you get past Reading and it’s like the driver decides to just go all out on the final stretch and you ZOOOOM fast fast fast into Paddington

This guy’s trajectory from ‘battered a fox to death whilst wearing a kimono on Boxing Day weirdo’ to ‘sound fucker doing good stuff to defend trans people and the environment’ is quite the journey but I am here for it tbh

There’s a man on this train, on the phone to his daughter who is obviously off school sick. He is explaining why he can’t stay at home with her, and that he has to go to work because “daddy’s bosses are not kind people” and it’s breaking my heart

Weird dickheads all over the world are now going to try and ‘do social media, like Mamdani’ and the results are going to be some of the cringiest, shittest stuff you have ever seen on God’s internet
A former adviser to Keir Starmer and Tony Blair has urged the Prime Minister to reinvent himself as a 'social media star', warning that his cautious communication style is leaving voters cold
Keir Starmer told to ‘be a social media star’ in bid to win back voters

I'm just going to create a bucket of people for whom whenever they make reference to 'Zohran Mamdani's antisemitism' etc., you can confidently sub in 'my own Islamophobia' and get a better picture of what's actually going on. BHL is right down at the bottom of that bucket.
The way all of these people convinced themselves that Mamdani is antisemitic is a subject far more worthy of media examination than any of the ‘groupthink on campuses!’ thinkpieces we’ve been subjected to
