This dystopian idea of single payer health care completely ignores the fact that there are plenty of first world countries that have it and their citizens love it! Literally some of the happiest, most successful countries in the world!

Bienen has just announced the agreement with the Trump administration to restore Northwestern's funding. He is also already misrepresenting it. For example, the FAQ he provides tries to minimize what the university has conceded regarding transgender care.

It's cynical for me to say this, but Northwestern bringing back an octogenarian whose name is already plastered all over campus with the implicit ask to be the dude who signs the Big Capitulation to the current administration in exchange for a bag of magic beans seems like it was the plan all along.

Commentary: As Americans, the desire to help our community has repeatedly led us into the same trap — beguiled into believing effort and good intentions are substitutes for government action on the most urgent of crises.
