It's incredibly frustrating how much time we waste debating things like the Sisko Agreements and the details of the Romulan detente while ignoring the life-changing work that hundreds of thousands of Federation bureaucrats show up and do EVERY DAY, without applause or acclamation.

If I was the Federation Diplomatic service I would simply not have hired an enemy general and suspected war criminal as an Ambassador and minister plenipotentiary

Happy #MapMonday! Today we look at a world where the United Nations worked more-or-less as the creators imagined it would.

look, we needed a demilitarised zone with the Cardassians and obviously had to exchange some colonies, but Jaresh-Inyo sacrificed the more populated Juhraya and the Dorvan system to keep hold of Setlik out of romanticism rather than any sensible spaciopolitical strategy.
The only thing Bsky talks more about than politics is space politics.
We’re doing starwars discourse again?

Youtube and Spotify need to modernise their tired old business models if they want to compete in a BBC world
The BBC: quite a big deal.

"Lads, I went to Soho - SOHO! - and it had things and people I felt were disreputable and a bit downmarket, what has happened?"

Objectively most of it's still pretty upmarket but you can't look me in the eye & say a murky bit of _Soho_ is a shocking change, that was why people went there!
are writers for the spectator okay?

In 2020, Boris Johnson said that Trump "encouraged people to storm the Capitol ... I believe that that was completely wrong. ... I unreservedly condemn encouraging people to behave in the disgraceful way that they did in the Capitol".

Does he still think that?

A serious problem with the fragmentation of our walled information ecosystems is that it has become much more difficult to gauge when stories/issues have 'cut through' and reached a large number of voters - and what their (unfiltered) reaction has been.

The BBC needs someone experienced enough to run a huge media org, and willing to take a job with no security. They need to know the BBC well enough to do the job, but not be an “insider”. They need to somehow be acceptable to a Lab government but also right-wing papers.

This person doesn’t exist.

Red Dwarf VIII!

Opening with a three parter that's only three parts because they fucked up the budget, couldn't afford an episode and worked out that it was cheaper to just film an extra 25 minutes for what was meant to be an hour special.

But hey, the bunks are back!
