I’m still processing what happened this morning.

Is it now the administration’s position that the U.S. military does not observe or adhere to the laws of war?

Look at that huge jump in Trump's wealth in 2025.

Americans can't afford groceries or health care.

But the Trump presidency is working out great for Donald Trump.

The thing is, this isn't even the first time US ag has wrecked itself with foolish trade wars.

In the runup to the Civil War, US cotton plantations decided to stop exporting cotton. Why?

Because the British Empire's textile mills ran on cotton from US plantations.

US farmers are saying they "just need temporary help, until things get better."

Here's the thing. US farm exports- which are mostly soy- CANNOT get better.

Other countries expanded their soy industries to fill China's demand.

We've walled ourselves out of the global market, folks. This is it.

This woman's life, death, and human dignity is not a thought exercise or political "skirmish," as Bruenig calls it. This kind of blasé dehumanization is straight up abhorrent

This is where trump actually does have a sort of inimitable dumb guy super power, because if you caught him out like this he would be like "you say 92 million, but there's a lot of people who say less, a lot less, and I assume some people who say more. Such a nasty question"

Every year that passes, I come to better appreciate just how traumatic members of the US elite find it to be yelled at by progressive young people. It is *vastly* more upsetting to them than being yelled at by reactionaries. They warp their entire identities & ideologies around it!

increasingly obvious that congressional dems have seized on the "distraction" thing because it provides them with an excuse for doing nothing about any concrete issue and instead complaining about some general principle that they think plays well in focus groups
