Vouloir c’est pouvoir.
Having worked in clinics where my primary job was to talk with patients about insurance policy/coverage, I can tell you that the average person doesn't know the difference between deductible, coinsurance & copay, and you expect them to negotiate their own premiums? This is not a viable option.
Except individuals have nowhere near the leverage that the federal government has when negotiating insurance plans with adequate coverage.
Cassidy: "The president is proposing that we take the $26b that would be going to insurance companies if we just do an extension and give it directly to the American people in which 100% of the money is used for them to purchase healthcare on their own terms. That makes them an informed consumer."

Todd Snider, the folk singer and songwriter whose wry wit coursed through big-hearted ballads rallying for the underdog, and whose charming onstage stories often lasted longer than the songs they introduced, died on Friday. He was 59.
Todd Snider, Folk Singer With a Wry Wit, Dies at 59
Mentored by the likes of Jimmy Buffett and John Prine, his big-hearted ballads told of heartache even as his humor revealed a steadfast optimism.

Agree 100%.
As aggravating as this week has been, we have to let go of this 'purity test' mentality and remember that perfect is the enemy of good.
For Democrats, the only way out of this mess is to fight through it, and the only way through is together.

Unity is not a hallmark of the Democratic Party.

But if the shutdown has taught them anything, it’s that the only way to withstand this presidency is by standing together.

This seems like the most straightforward and also basically accurate message.
instead of saying this was good strategy, maybe senate dems should say: "the republicans were going to kill people by starving them to death, and because we aren't monsters, we decided to let this fight go. We'll keep fighting. Stop electing monsters."

I am still angry that 8 Dems voted to pass the CR out of the Senate less than a week after we gave them a referendum to keep fighting BUT, having slept on it, I am hoping they're playing the long game and will force R's to vote on record against the ACA subsidies and force the House into session.

Is exactly what we the people need to hear from Dems!

This is what America needs in leadership as we move forward to remove the orange plague!
Chris Murphy nailed it after last night's vote: "There's no way to sugarcoat what happened tonight. And my fear is that Trump gets stronger, not weaker, because of this acquiescence. I'm angry - like you. But I choose to keep fighting.

I have left messages for my Senator and for @schumer.senate.gov. Have you?
Get on the phones, friends!
There’s still time to call senators. Let me explain. Sorry not sorry about the cat. He’s also really upset about this deal.

@schumer.senate.gov and @democrats.senate.gov failed us. The Senate must have new leadership and our delegates to Congress must rise to the level of courage we entrust to them. If they cannot do that, they must resign.

We can't vote Schumer out until 2028 but we can make him being the senate majority leader a litmus test for 2026 candidates. Every single Dem senate candidate should be forced to go on the record and state they will not vote for him as majority leader.
November 10, 2025 at 4:17 AM
Get on the phones to every one of them - especially if you are a constituent. They can still do the right thing on the 2nd vote.

I am disappointed in you, Dick @durbin.senate.gov.
Tonight was a very bad night.

A *promise* of a vote on ACA subsidies is not good enough. If that is the compromise being offered, vote NO. @schumer.senate.gov @democrats.senate.gov

I'm with you on this point.
I’m kind of in burn it all down mode.

I hope they nuke the filibuster.

Think of all the fun stuff we can pass when we’re the majority again.

Looks like the Dems will pick up 12 seats in the VA House of Delegates, which will go from 51-49 to 63-37 D-R. That's an honestly shocking result.

I just said to my husband - I really wish I had a fake Truth account to watch the meltdown.

Alas, I refuse to create one so I will be dancing around the house just imagining the new ketchup-colored walls in (what's left of) the White House.
I have a huge grin on my face...thinking about Donald...watching the election returns. That is all.
