This is going to sound stupid and shallow, but one of the takeaways for me from watching clips of ICE goons in Minneapolis and Saint Paul is the gorgeous housing stock there.

There's an Episcopal angle to this story. The building where Cities Church meets was formerly St. Paul's-on-the-Hill Episcopal Church, an Anglo-Catholic parish, which closed in 2015. The moral of this story is don't close Anglo-Catholic parishes.

I wrote a paper in grad school about the contemporary reception of Uncle Tom's Cabin and...well, there's a throughline in right-wing thought up to the present day about "property rights" and the importance of enforcing silence among liberals about anything that threatens the racial status quo.

I know it's not mainstream conventional wisdom but I think "Abolish ICE" is a perfectly reasonable response to this and you can get the public to buy in. Most people don't want masked murderous thugs roving their streets
