Also - if you have to constantly flex your supposed intelligence, then really, there should be immediate alarm bells ringing. All the smartest people I've ever known wear their genius lightly. Cummings sports his like it's a pair of cheap, fluorescent leg warmers.

Dominic Cummings was always an absolute arsehole.

The Conservative right loves to talk up imagined genius among their ranks when in truth there's nothing there but attitude, flex, and pose. Mogg, Johnson, Gove, Cummings. All tiresome little nobodies trotting out rehashed nonsense. Often nasty.

It is may be 3x average pay but 62% tax rate on earnings over £100,000 and cliff edge removal of childcare subsidies limit aspirations of upper middle classes bit.ly/49arr4e misleading to call it ‘working hard’ not ‘being lucky and clever’. Many work very hard on £12.21/hour 48 hours a week or more
This tax trap is killing youthful aspiration
Little wonder the under-40s laud Margaret Thatcher: she valued hard work, unlike the rules that penalise them today

Reform is not some unstoppable political force.

It spent the weekend calling Lucy Connolly a "political prisoner", cheering a guy who opposes Covid vaccines & dismissing climate change.

Labour should spray these clips across the web.

Make Reform fight on this ground. It is eminently beatable.
Reform call Connolly "Britain's favourite political prisoner"

Soft on crime, soft on racism

We don't have political prisoners.

The woman who posted "“Mass deportation now, set fire to all the fucking hotels full of the bastards for all I care” is not a national treasure, ouside their conference.

Exactly this.

It was never about the mistake she made, as Tories have been doing this deliberately for decades.

Call it classism, sexism, punching down, whatever you like. It stinks.

Angela Rayner gawn 😢😩

Whilst she did make a silly mistake, it’s hard to escape the conclusion that the right wing media bullied her out of her position because she amongst their top most hated demographics (a northern, working class woman trying to improve workers’ rights).

Nick Robinson just asked John Curtice if the BBC giving a platform to Farage & Reform was responsible for their popularity; presumably hoping to hear the polling guru say a resounding "no".

Instead, Curtice said, "it's not just that, it's also how he uses it"

So the answer's clearly yes.

The Mail is going to go full Farage. The Telegraph already has, to the absolute horror of the proper journalists still on the paper. Tony Gallagher at The Times is, as ever, waiting for Rupert Murdoch’s instructions. Their only alternative is to own the stupidity of backing Johnson, Brexit & Truss.

Where has this ludicrous ECHR "debate" even come from.

I've never once met an ordinary member of the public who's said to me, "Do you know what? We REALLY need to leave the ECHR."

It's just a new right wing talking point because every other shit idea they've foisted on us has run out of steam.

My friend worked in a hostel where a 15 year old used to spend their tiny allowance on tins of soup for his mother, his sole relation, because she was having chemo for terminal cancer and could not eat the food the hostel provided
In my pre-Bellingcat days, I worked for an organisation that housed asylum seekers, and I'd challenge anyone who think they get an easy time to spend a few months living in the same conditions and see how they feel about it then.
When I did a story on conditions in migrant hotels, there was a woman who would have to wash the spicy sauce off the pasta - in the sink - because there was no meal suitable for her toddler. She felt like a bad mum who couldn’t feed her own child

I think President Macron overstates his case about the role of Brexit in the small boats.

Former PM Johnson obvs knows this is a lunatic conspiracy theory so it is interesting that he + the Daily Mail think it such a great lark to put his name to it

Notably #WATO didn't point he's a far-right media pundit.

Totally appalling interview on the BBC radio programme The World at One, just now. Sebastian Gorka, representing the Trump administration, failed to answer a single question from Sarah Montague and instead used the opportunity to hurl abuse at her.
No idea why the BBC producer didn’t turn Gorka off
