Science (chemistry laboratory) by day, crochet by night, easily distracted all the time. Love my dog, my books, my peace and quiet, and my craft projects. "Set your course by the stars, not by the lights of every passing ship." ~Omar Bradley~ she/her
Checking the forecast while I have insomnia, wishing I could get to sleep as easily as my dog.

Looks like several inches of snow on Saturday, time to put the shovel by the front door. And find my boots!

Woke up and let my dog out to pee and was extremely confused that my kitchen smelled like tomatoes...until I remembered I put the ingredients for pasta sauce in my crockpot to cook overnight.

Smells delicious but an odd smell in the very early morning.

I object, I have no plants at all (because i kill them with my black thumb, if they didn't die i certainly would). And once I have some time that I can take off from work in a row i plan on tidying up and decluttering so yeah.
Twitter accounts are based in Russia. BlueSky accounts are based in homes with, frankly, too many books, plants, obsolete cables, and pieces of rustic pottery, that could do with a bit of a tidying up, to be honest.

Went to the store to get a basic toaster for when I'm hungry late in the day, so I can eat toast instead of cookies. Saw a great price on a little sandwich maker too.

I'm going to need to keep so much cheese on hand for quick grilled cheese sandwiches now, because it works better than I thought!

Got a long list of tasks for this weekend and I'm trying to get a start, but since my dog knows it's the weekend she keeps asking for morning pets instead.

🧵 Let’s be so effing for real right now. The Department of Education saying these jobs are no longer PROFESSIONAL is dumb as hell and insulting as fuck. It takes YEARS of post-graduate training, including passing certifying exams, to earn degrees in these fields. #fdt #momsky

Got some stuff for the person whose tag i picked off the tree at my parents' church. A mom asked for slippers, socks, or self-care items. I got some of everything. If she's anything like my mom, the bathroom is the only place she has some peace so I hope she likes the shower gel and bath bombs. 🙂

Working through ball number 10 of 11 before I think this will be a good size to finish off my blanket (but if I need more length, I estimated needing 13 balls so I have plenty of extra yarn). Should be finished soon then on to another project. 🙂

Heh. One of my coworkers donated blood at a workplace event partially so he could find out what his blood type was. He got a notification within days that his blood was used already.

Turns out he is O negative. 😄

Had a little extra cash this month but I have no cats and my dog needs fancy prescription food so I don't know what all-purpose kibble is good. Fortunately the pet food pantry at my local humane society takes monetary donations as well.

Might not be much, but it should help a few folks.

How a flawed idea is teaching millions of kids to be poor readers
For decades, schools have taught children the strategies of struggling readers, using a theory about reading that cognitive scientists have repeatedly debunked. And many teachers and parents don't kno...

The winter weather forecast for Chicago and surrounding areas is quite impressive. I had a relative who went to college at Notre Dame and the locals loved explaining "wind chill" and "lake effect snow" to those from more distant areas.

Wonder how much winter gear ICE and Border Patrol have lol.

Made a triangle shawl just to test a yarn I've never worked with before, then decided I likely wouldn't wear it. After considering how annoying it wpuld be to unravel it, decided to add it to the growing pile of random stuff to donate that I'm amassing.

I'm sure SOMEONE can use it, just not me!
