Indeed. Although I'd say 8 year-olds just because my 11 year old nephew, when asked about something on the news and got an explanation from my mom, commented "well that doesn't sound very smart." So at least he got it! 😄

When I was in college I'd read a lot of international spy thrillers and I'm v irritated with fiction writers for making me think that political conspiracies would be meticulously plotted by educated and intelligent, if amoral, people. When actually they are diagramed in crayon by toddlers. 😠

When I was a kid I wished I could be cool, but I knew it would never happen as a short, quiet, non-athletic, studious girl with straight brown hair and glasses that made me look like an owl. Now in my mid-50s I see what a blessing it was as some my age have so much ANGST about not being cool anymore

This whole situation would be hilarious if it wasn't so incredibly sad. I'm so sorry your coworker's family is dealing with that kind of emotional upheaval.
