Been on a George Sanders kick lately so I'm going to share some of my favorites as I go. First up: Lured (1947). Probably George at his best. Flip, suave, sardonic, and sexy. Lucille is great here too. I love her in more dramatic roles

I lost my job, I can't afford turkey or pie, and my kids have measles. But at least I'm not seeing any trans people in the Macy's parade.

People are not ready for a bad faith fascist government that is willing to and already using faked images and documents to justify their actions and agenda let alone one that is willing to lie about everything including day to day things.

The level of danger we are facing is massive here.
Personally, I think it's a bad thing when people in the government post AI images without disclosing that they're AI.

Thanksgiving Is Always Ruined by That One Uncle Obsessed with Steely Dan
There are so many reasons to look forward to Thanksgiving. There’s the food, of course, but there’s also the chance to reconnect with our families ...

Wow the more I read about this bitch the worse it gets
This is an excellent piece that you should read and also, I think there's something so much bigger going on on top of all this, which is that we have become so utterly numbed to dead kids in this country that we think just a couple kids dying of a horrible preventable disease isn't a big deal

If you’re a journalist who’s still on Twitter, from now on in your writing you have to replace “the American people want” with “troll bots in Eastern Europe demand”

Being there makes your judgment suspect. I don’t care how savvy you think you are, you’re marinating in a disinformation campaign.

Donald Trump told a journalist, “Quiet, piggy,” when she asked him about Epstein—continuing his pattern of demeaning women, @isabelfattal.bsky.social argues in The Atlantic Daily:

For me, it’s just not Thanksgiving without this. Grew up with it but did not know it was a growers collective. That’s awesome! (Also, it reminds me that I want my parents “cranberry dish” - the crystal plate and silver server that we put the overlapping sliced pieces on.)
My #SuperlativeCannedGoo tweet from the old place is making rounds again. Support co-op cranberry growers!

Alice is the gold standard of what Twitter was when it was great - how you could just find these brilliant, remarkable people with the kind of voices that rarely get platformed or taken seriously, and hear about their lives in their own words without intruding on them or demanding emotional labor
Watching disabled people around the world mourn Alice is a reminder of the good aspect of the internet. 30 years ago, few people outside of SF would ever have known Alice existed. I never would have met her. The internet connected us all. Let’s honor Alice’s memory by using that power and community.
My social media is wall-to-wall love for the incomparable Alice Wong, and I need more words. What captures sadness and/also affection for a community that knows what's been lost?
