Gonna remind the whole of Bluesky, again, that journalistic norms of saying “Texas is doing this” and “Texas is doing that”, (when it’s the TX GOP only) cedes an entire population to white supremacy and erases the opposition that also represents Texas and the Texans that would be victimized.

Whenever it's racist violence against Palestinian creators, Western liberals, academics, and artists are silent. Whenever Palestinians call for cultural boycotts of the fascist perpetrators, the same people mutter "engagement" and stress arts bring people together. Cowards without morals. #PEN
I can’t wait for PEN to comment on the Israeli intelligence forces storming the Palestinian National Theatre in Jerusalem and threatening the whole cast of the children’s performance and the audience if they didn’t leave in five minutes.

Because they won’t.

Props to the Houston Chronicle for not letting this one go. But good gods, the amount of money involved in clearing this fuck-up by HPD. This is (another) clear example of when they were SUPPOSED to be rescuers and instead made it all worse and caused harm.
After 48 days, 3 pieces from the Houston Chronicle editorial board, requests for comment from others — like TBW — legal work by multiple attorneys and the advocacy organization FIEL, city council meetings, press conferences, and intercessions from Rep. Al Green, Garcia’s son was finally released.

Houston police said that because Emmanuel told officers his name was “Manuel,” they didn’t connect him to the missing person’s case — despite the similarity in his description and location. His mom was allowed to visit three times. Once after emergency surgery.

Emmanuel, a 15-year-old with intellectual disabilities, wandered away from his mom’s fruit stand in October.

She reported him missing to Houston police. But instead of reuniting them, the city turned him over to ICE.

“They’re failing all of us,” his mom said.

Stop the threats of execution, hanging, and sending a mob before someone gets hurt.

America deserves better.
New threats from Trump:

The president just endorsed a post reading, "Go get all those traitorous sons of bitches for sedition at the very least. Those pompous traitorous communists should be impeached and prosecuted."
