The result of a challenge to weave a skein from the previous year’s spinning competition - sea green with whole golden locs spun into it. I wove a mermaid! She even has seaweed dreadlocks and a seashell handbag. The frame is a thrifted partial loom. #weaving #tapestry

Finally! A chilly morning here in central Texas. Having tea out on the porch, all bundled up, to enjoy it.

Other good news. It was a great day of indigo dyeing for all the folks who signed up … and a little fox that stopped by to watch us! #naturaldyes

I voted!

(I couldn’t wear this shirt to a polling place but I’m wearing it the rest of the day, along with my sticker.)

Screenshot of the brands Condé Nast owns. BTW, I’m trying to unsubscribe from my Teen Vogue weekly newsletter (RIP) but the unsubscribe button on the website isn’t responding (on my phone at least).

The world may be crazy but I just had a lovely dinner with hubby in Austin and now I’m waiting at @bookpeople.com for @marthawells.com to chat with Eghibor Okosun.

Help, #redwine Bluesky folks? I opened a bottle of red this evening that I fully expected to be mediocre or even gone bad (it’s been a while since I bought it). It’s wonderful! Even hubby likes it. All I know is that it’s an Armenian red, very sweet. Photos of the here. I’m trying to find more.

Cool little display of natural dyes I’m setting up for our guild’s public outreach. Came out even nicer than I expected.

Rest in Peace. I’m so grateful I got to meet you.

I feel like there’s an Operation Petticoat joke to be made in here somewhere, but I’m too tired to do it.

Success!! This is the fluffy blue foam “flower” of an indigo vat, and this vat is a reworking of one that had been used so much that it had a lot of gunk on the bottom, making it less useful for deep dips. I’m pleased.

Help, please, #geology Bluesky? I have a large rock/mineral sphere (had it for nearly 30 years now) but I don’t know what it is. It’s super hard to photograph well but I’ve included a few. It’s very black in most light, but hit it just right and you can see swirled sparkles. It’s HEAVY. Any ideas?

A little joy today. I finished up this muga silk and soy fiber weave for the project it's going to (more on that later when it's nearer completion). The silk is the warp, the soy yarn is the thicker weft and there's a mill remnant as the thinner weft.

A muga silk warp, soy and a stretch for the weft. This is shaping up nicely, though slower on a table loom than it would with treadles because of the pattern. #weaving #handweaving

Pictures aren't great, but they'll give you an idea.
