THIS. Beyond enraging.
Senators on the brink of retirement who lived full, wealthy lives and never feared the loss of their own healthcare voting for their constituents to die from their inability to afford the same is treasonous

Elon Musk’s new pay package would feed all forty million Americans on SNAP for the next ten years. He wouldn’t notice the difference but the country would.

@zohrankmamdani.bsky.social's win was a fluke.

But working people are sending a message: they WANT a politics that prioritizes them, not the billionaires.

THIS.
Most news networks are still reporting on this as though it’s a quagmire for which there’s no easy answer. There is, it’s actually *not using* the contingency funds that’s a deviation from protocol. This is purely Trump’s choice and it may not even be legal.

@schumer.senate.gov @hakeem-jeffries.bsky.social @chrismurphyct.bsky.social Why in God’s name aren’t you holding daily press conferences to counter this baldfaced lie & point out the admin’s refusal to release the $6 BILLION reserved for this purpose? How about some baldfaced truth?
Mike Johnson: "President Trump has proven beyond a shadow of a doubt that if there is any way to fund these programs that are drying up, he will do it. If there was any way to fund SNAP during the Democratic shutdown, you can be assured that your commander in chief would do it."

Great idea—please share.
Halloween poster in case you want to print it out and display it where parents passing by trick or treating can scan it. QR code goes to Feeding America, which supplies over 200 national food banks.

Remember: The richest 1% evade over $160 billion in taxes every year.

That amount would fund SNAP for a year with money to spare.

Ask yourself who the real freeloaders are.

The Republicans' shutdown message is abundantly clear:
Let us jack up millions of people's health care costs or we'll starve the poor.
I wish that was an exaggeration. It's not.

The New York Post is owned by Lachlan Murdoch, solely because his daddy bought it and passed it on to him.

And it's backing Andrew Cuomo, a meathead whose whole career in politics stems from his daddy being good at it.

But *Mamdani* is the nepo baby, because his mom was a filmmaker? Sure.
Interesting cover from NY Post

The Walton family (who own Walmart) are worth over $400 billion, yet many of their employees are on SNAP.

Bezos is worth over $400 billion, many Amazon employees require SNAP.

The people who need help are not the problem.

It’s corporate greed. It’s an unwillingness to pay a living wage.

Every mention of SNAP being frozen should include this simple fact:

TRUMP is CHOOSING TO CANCEL FOOD ASSISTANCE. There are literally emergency dollars available to keep SNAP funded.

LOUDER FOR THE PEOPLE IN THE BACK.
SNAP isn't about "people who don't work." It's about people who don't get paid enough to live.

Of the 40 or so million people who rely on food stamps:

* Two-thirds are children, seniors, or disabled

* Most working-age adults who receive SNAP are employed—but in jobs that pay poverty wages

This marks a +$500 Billion jump in October, or +$23 billion per day, again, thanks to Donald Trump.

Extremely important to keep this top of mind.
"Trump’s exposed vulnerability must be leveraged to attack the pillars of his nascent autocracy, including the militarized police he has assembled to fight his war on America."

As @davidrlurie.bsky.social says over at @atrupar.com's place, Trump is politically weak and we should say so:
"If Democrats continue to center their opposition to Trump around actions that a broad swath of Americans decisively oppose, they have a substantial chance of landing direct hits on the foundations of his nascent dictatorship." — @davidrlurie.bsky.social

Given how enragingly reductive the NYT and WaPo coverage of yesterday’s massive No Kings protests has been, it’s super-encouraging to see this local paper coverage. 👍👍👍
I scrolled through the @1stforall.bsky.social's gallery of print front pages for local coverage of "No Kings" protests. Here are some of the standout papers, starting with the Daily Sentinel of Grand Junction, Colorado:
