Mostly bikes, sometimes trains, occasionally buses. And I’m in a car more than I’d like. Providence, RI, USA.
North Main & Olney Street. This is from about 6 years ago before they installed the planters and posts that block people from cutting this corner. It's much safer for people walking and biking now.

I think the clerk at the grocery store sneaked this sticker onto my onion while bagging my groceries. If that keeps him amused while working during the holiday rush, I don’t mind!

Several posts on Providence Reddit right now: “I know that Reddit sleuthing has led to tragedies in the past, but let’s speculate about who did this”

This is the case in a bunch of places - mostly the Midwest. And confusingly, both are state schools! Are Penn/Penn State the only exception to this?
Sometimes a college basketball game will be like Oklahoma vs. Oklahoma State and it’s like come on guys I know that’s the same place.

By request, here's a thread of books that I think make excellent gifts this holiday season (obviously they're cartographically inclined, you know me)

1. Best anthology
"All Over the Map" by Betsy Mason and Greg Miller
A gorgeous, full color history of maps mind-bending maps from around the world.

I saw the Wild Turkeys of the East Side the other day and stopped to admire them. Three college-aged people walked by and noticed them as well. None of us took a picture so I guess this means the turkeys are totally normal now

New ankylosaur just dropped, please notify @benjaminahr.mobi
The Cortylorhynchus considers my problems, nods sagely, and says, "have you tried basking in the sun about it? While being as spherical as possible?"

I resisted posting The Chart in the company slack today.

Please clap.

Autumn's Scylla & Charybdis: ride in the bike lane covered in slippery wet leaves? Or in the travel lane with the 4,000+ lb SUVs?
‘Tis the season for slippery wet leaves. Be careful when biking (and driving)!

NYT spelling bee puzzle doesn’t accept “tuppence” but does accept “toonie”
What meaningless thing/experience are you still mad about? Like it should not matter at all, DOES not matter at all. But you’re still MAD.

And how long has it been?

I bought some bagels at Hy-Vee four years ago. So bad. Too big. Hard. Bland. WORTHLESS.

I’m still FURIOUS.

I keep getting emails for someone with my same name from a Ford dealership in Wisconsin with reminders for an upcoming appointment. I've replied in the past telling them they need to update that email address. Should I just start canceling appointments for him now?

This looks really cool. There's an African Gray parrot named Popeye (iirc) that lives in Jordan's Jungle and I wonder what she'll think of the music? When I had a parrot, she loved to hear electronic music and would chirp and squeak along with it.
A big part of my goal as owner of the oldest map store on the East Coast, is show people that maps aren't antiques. They are living, breathing, ways of seeing the world.
Audio-visual artist Eric Theise gets this. Come see him perform at The Map Center next week!

Well this is certainly concerning
WPSU in Pennsylvania becomes the first public media outlet to shut down as a result of the rescission of federal funding.

WPSU TV and radio serves one of the largest geographic coverage areas in the nation, stretching across 24 counties of central Pennsylvania.
Penn State to shutter WPSU, board declines transfer to WHYY
In voting down a proposal to transfer the station to WHYY, trustees expressed concern over a $17 million subsidy and wanted a commitment to hire staff.
