I feel like I'm going insane here, why is no one saying Trump is boycotting this because he's a racist? It's v simple! He can't stand African leaders. He is just a simple racist. Better to get on without him
The future of the Group of 20 is uncertain after Donald Trump boycotted the summit in South Africa and there were numerous other dropouts among world leaders.

Reminder - this doesnt just affect trans people.

Hannah Botterman is a icon and English legend - is scared to go to the loo alone in case people now challenge her.

And this advice would entirely empower them.

A Whitehall review of government social media use is currently underway. However, Labour MPs say the process lacks rigour and proper ministerial involvement

Bellingcat’s contact email has always been a magnet for people with fairly unusual views; paranoid delusions, sprawling conspiracies, the works. But recently, the pattern has shifted, we’re seeing more and more emails clearly written with ChatGPT.

Labour’s “we have to do it, or racism will get worse” argument is striking. Any other public policy failures British ethnic minorities should be on the hook for? Can we be blamed en bloc for Rachel Reeves’ budget next week too? www.ft.com/content/37b0...
Defence of Labour asylum policy reveals backsliding on racism
Home secretary’s framing of failures is partly low politics, but also a result of ministers’ poor approach to race relations

There is no evidence that stripping refugees' rights one by one will have any impact on people crossing the channel.

Taking jewellery from refugees is akin to painting over murals for refugee children.

These repugnant ‘deterrents’ did not work for the Tories, and they won't work for us.

A strong immigration system doesn't need to be a cruel one.

It shouldn't need saying - but refugees & asylum seekers are real people, fleeing war and persecution.

This daughter of an immigrant is proud of our British and Labour values of respect and not turning our backs on people in real need.

Ultimately the vision of britain that starmer has is profoundly cynical, nasty and just not true. He thinks that abidicating his responsibility in showing that another option is maturity and doing the difficult thing, but he's literally just creating the hateful country he is so afraid of

If anyone enjoyed A House of Dynamite, I would wholly recommend Annie Jacobsen's "Nuclear War: A Scenario".

It shows how accurate the film is and goes into the aftermath... terrifying but very well written and researcher.

Politics is easy when you rest on slogans. Even if you then end up as an apologist for imperialism.
There is always money for war, never for the poor.

Every penny spent on bombs, tanks and missiles is stolen from our homes, schools and hospitals.

We are not going to take it anymore.

It's an immense privilege to work in Parliament. Part of the deal is to know you're brushing shoulders with people you might vehemently disagree with.

But going to work with someone who proudly spouts this poison, who would happily see your family deported... that's a challenge
The Established Church needs to find a voice on this kind of dehumanising depiction of men, women and children who have come to our country, being spilled all over the place to say the only thing that has human value is a salary above £38k and thst any foreigner who ever earns less must get out

Presumably this also deports freelancers or those self-employed. Like my dad.

Truly despicable piece of legislation.
The Conservatives have drafted the legislation.

ANY one of the conditions being met leads to ILR being revoked.

If annual income falls below £38,700 for six months (for any reason at all)

The Secretary of State would also have the powers add whatever further conditions they want.

Voters’ anger is largely focused on asylum, and perhaps on low-skilled immigration.

The government response seems to be focused on making sure no high-skilled immigrant will ever pick the UK in future, and the ones currently here will rapidly rethink their decision.

This will not end well.
Haven’t read the report yet but this looks to me like another example of adding yet more makework to the immigration process for unclear reasons other than possibly getting mentioned in Politico Playbook.
