this is bad for lots of reasons, but not least--why the fuck are the federal bureau of prisons agents doing this work?

abolitionists are once again right: what we are experiencing now is a direct result of the carceralization of the nation--the whole fucking country is a prison now
We’re just not a free country.

Any American watching this play out between regime forces and journalists overseas would recognize it for what it is.

Sacramento area high schoolers organized a massive walkout tomorrow from 7 schools, and our Board of Education president just sent out a statement in full support.

It’s so nice to be in a district that respects and protects their students. I’m pulling my 5th grader out to join the big kids 🤍

Not necessarily, barring some Very Bad Stuff I think they have a solid chance to win 26 and 28 (see 06 and 08). Their failure isn't winning power, it's doing something valuable with it
So that they can continue to stand perfectly still and get absolutely destroyed in 2028

I think a government shutdown is entirely reasonable if the federal government is TERRORIZING A WHOLE STATE.

Or just proceed like things are business as usual.

I mean, we're trying to here but it's difficult with the armed agents rampaging through the state assaulting & abducting & killing people.

Is Susan Collins going to get this man and the rest of the kidnapped Mainers back from her new BFF Kristi Noem?

She got her headlines today - and that's usually her primary goal but trusting Collins is risky business and trusting Noem is even worse

Finally got around to a bit of research I'd been meaning to explore, and: There is no documented instance of an ICE officer being identified and assaulted while off duty because he wasn't masked. www.pbump.net/o/ices-excus...
ICE’s excuse for wearing masks has never actually manifested
There have been incidents of harassment and threats. But there are no apparent incidents in which identified ICE officers have been assaulted off-duty.

(what Uncommitted wanted would quite possibly, in fact, lost MORE Dem voters because bluntly American Jews are one of THE most reliable Dem voting blocks & bases and they were extremely pissed off already about the topic.

It is entirely probable that on this topic there was no clear winning move.)

Amazon just announced another round of 16,000 layoffs, months after it laid off 14,000 workers.

Reminder that Amazon CEO Andy Jassy raked in over $40M in 2024.

And Amazon is spending at least $75 million producing and promoting the Melania documentary.

The system is rigged.

At a moment when we need strong, clear, effective leadership…we have the Senate Democratic Caucus and Chuck Schumer.
From me: Chuck Schumer's legislative demands for DHS funding are so narrow they almost mirror what ICE/CBP have just announced in Minneapolis. Just as Republicans were conceding the need to negotiate, Democrats pre-negotiated themselves into mush.

I hate to tap the sign but again: this is all made to make in-person education and access to knowledge transfer a preserve of the elite. Human education for the few, bots for the many.
We want to make sure tutoring isn't the preserve of a lucky few, but accessible to every child who needs it.

AI can help us do that.

Safe, personalised, one-to-one learning support to help every child achieve and thrive.

yes, there are no real signs of any big change in DHS activity here yet. In Chicago there really was after Bovino left and they basically ended "Midway Blitz" not so here so far.

Q: Can you be specific about how many ICE and CBP agents are currently operating in the state?

HOMAN: 3,000. There's been some rotations. They've been in theater a long time. Day after day, can't eat in restaurants, people spin on you, blowing whistles at you. But my main focus now is draw down
