The far right is obsessed with Lord of the Rings and Musk keeps posting about "hobbits" because modern scientific racism owes more to fantasy worlds and gaming systems than genetic science, and they see both as effective mediums for right-wing propaganda www.theatlantic.com/ideas/2025/1...

Excited to see Petey try to retool the chicken nugget factories and protein powder repackaging warehouses that are all that remains of American industry to build JDAMs and reaper drones.

Wondering why no one likes your posts anymore, even among your friends? It's because @jay.bsky.team and team have decided to hide a huge amount of content from all of our feeds by default.

Here's how to turn it off.

New York electing its first Muslim mayor 24 years after 9/11 and rejecting the idiotic racism that would connect those events is actually a legit excuse for American triumphalism, but the people who say they love America the most hate all the best things about it.

Well, if there was ever an expert in neutralizing the separation of powers between the legislative and executive branches, it would be John Roberts.
Roberts now going at the solicitor general like a cat with a wounded mouse. Keeps telling him that tariffs are taxes on the American people. "Who pays the tariffs??" Says Trump's argument would neutralize separation of powers between the legislative and executive branches. Incredible stuff.

Consolidating my authoritarian government by telling the troops they're too gay and fat, not paying them, and telling them to go ask a foreign government for food.
NEW: The US Army website for its bases in Bavaria, Germany told its soldiers and employees that it might need to obtain free food from the German government during the US government shutdown.

The Army later altered publication to remove a list of food banks, but we have the original text here:
US Army Tells Soldiers to Go to German Food Bank, Then Deletes It
The initial 'Shutdown Guidance' for the US Army Garrison Bavaria included instructions to go to German food banks.

Bugonia is so good. I won't say anything about the plot, but I will say the acting is really great. Skinny Plemmons and girl boss Stone are in their own ways equally terrifying and the supporting cast are tremendous.

Great news. DMPS deserved a win for once
Overshadowed by many other important races today: voters in Des Moines, Iowa approved a $265 million school bond issue.
(A month ago many thought bond had no chance of getting 60% because of the scandal surrounding the former DSM superintendent who's now facing federal charges.)
