Generally, any theory of the world that extends unearned privilege to those espousing it, while demanding more of others, can be safely dismissed as self-serving bullshit.
I had missed this latest delirium by Adrian Vermeule on birthright citizenship

'Common law?! NAH, it's the Roman law of adoption that should govern the interpretation of the 14th Amendment of the US Constitution!'

Not the Christmas-iest Christmas Last Four ever, but I did Crimesmas last weekend and Song Sung Blue was my Christmas Day movie with my mom.

Legalized banditry
ICE detain father shopping on Christmas Eve—then steal his family's groceries.

Then 3 agents divvy up his paid for food—taking what they want for themselves.

"Can I just get the wife's number to call and let her know?" woman asks.

"No, guess he should've complied," agent says.

This is what Bari Weiss et al think "censorship" actually is; when subordinates criticize their superiors. That has been the bedrock of the entire "cancel culture" discourse in elite media; rage at the idea that students, women, journalists, interns, etc might be able to speak against the boss.
The CBS reporter who led the story calls pulling it a "political" decision.
"The decision was made after Bari Weiss, the new editor in chief of CBS News, requested numerous changes to the segment."

Did my annual holiday pilgrimage to the nice mall today and it's wild to remember that malls used to be that busy like, every weekend.

Fire and Ash good. It's no Way of Water (or, rather is maybe a little too much Way of Water for what should be a different movie), but it's an absolute blast all the same

Say what you will about American exceptionalism but our two biggest Nazis are a Jewish white man and a black Roman Catholic lady and if that ain’t as American as apple pie I don’t know what is
Ben Shapiro, arguably one of the people most responsible for creating a brand new generation of rabid racists and white supremacists, has had his audience completely stolen by a black woman. This would be insanely enjoyable if not for the fact she's somehow an even bigger nazi than he was.
1. “F*ck you Ben Shapiro and the midget horse you rode in on.”

Candace Owens, responding to Ben Shapiro’s speech at Turning Point USA, mainlines unquestionable Neo-Nazi propaganda, including dangerous Talmudic conspiracies.

Had a little Crimesmas Eve: watched Kiss Kiss Bang Bang and the Ice Harvest back to back. Good double feature.

A decade of confirming evidence that this is the case and yet still there are people happy to line up thinking it won't happen to them.

The year is 2035. There are three game studios left. Each one produces a game every 10 years, killing 250+ developers in the process. They all accidentally make the same game because they used genAI in preproduction. They sell 500 million units each, missing quarterly targets. Everyone is laid off.

Shocked to learn that these professional murderers are also racist.
Exclusive at @cbsnews.com.web.brid.gy - The Navy quietly disciplined 18 Navy SEALs after military investigators found a private group chat that contained racist memes targeting a Black SEAL. We obtained over 500 pages of documents from FOIA. www.cbsnews.com/news/navy-se...

Amanda hits it on the nose: MAGA isn't going to evaporates overnight because the influencers are fighting, but it is going to further errode the cohesion of their extremely brittle coalition. And once that coalition breaks, I'm very dubious there will be anyone that can bring it back together again.
This piece means well, I think. There's a fear people are too comfy and hopeful.

But actually stuff like this backfire. She doesn't mean to, but she's arguing that nothing matters, fascism is forever, you might as well give up now.

But she's wrong.

The MAGA Crack-Up Is Overrated. MAGA Is Here to Stay.
Sure, Ben Shapiro, Candace Owens, and Tucker Carlson are squabbling. But the underlying ideology remains as powerful as ever.

I think this is true of most of the billionaire media acquisitions of recent years, from WaPo to Twitter. Yes, shutting up people they don't want to hear from is a big motivator, but all these guys also genuinely think that they have a better vision for the thing, but that vision is very unpopular.
I know that everyone is like “oh the whole point of this is to destroy CBS, they actually want to run it into the ground” and I’m sure plenty of folks will be happy if they do

but David Ellison and Bari Weiss don’t want that! they really think they’ve got something! they are just very bad at this
Bari Weiss’ much-hyped CBS News town hall with Erika Kirk was a massive ratings flop
