Average Americans would find this repulsive, but there is literally no way to inform most of them that it even happened.

Unless you're on Truth Social (3% of U.S. adults) or Bluesky (4%), you're just not going to see it. Major papers and news networks won't report it. X/Facebook will suppress it.
Donald Trump is now reposting videos on Truth Social suggesting that Minnesota Governor Tim Walz had Melissa Hortman assassinated.

This is objectively evil, and calling it out should not be political.

As I was saying, nobody serious thinks there’s quick money to be made on Venezuelan oil. And even in the most optimistic scenarios, it would take years to increase oil production there.

“Well… we can’t just keep filing impeachment articles all the time.”

Yes you can! If the man is committing impeachable offenses on the regular, you’re acquiescing to a standard that raises the bar for impeachable offense to absurd levels.
How are voters meant to understand how serious things are if in lieu of shouting fire AND going into building with hoses, you're simply posting fire safety suggestions on social media?
Not introducing articles of impeachment is a message that Trump hasn't committed impeachable offenses.

Refusal to act because it won't pass is surrender and the only way something can go from unlikely to likely is if you're out there building support for it.

It just shows a fundamental lack of understanding. You don't wait until the wind is at your back to think about acting.
Yes because we don’t have the votes we should just let these fucking thugs continue to rip up our constitution
You know what it takes to impeach/remove someone, right? I'm optimistic about 2026, but I'm not delusional....

Trump cares a lot more about putting Jack Smith in handcuffs than putting Nicolas Maduro in handcuffs but has far less ability to do so.
Meanwhile, Trump is back to the battle he really cares about, the one where he feels like anything but an omnipotent tough guy.

It’s not about drugs. If it was, Trump wouldn’t have pardoned one of the largest narco traffickers in the world last month.

It’s about oil and regime change.

And they need a trial now to pretend that it isn’t. Especially to distract from his sinking under Epstein and skyrocketing healthcare costs.

Their messaging is so fucking incoherent. Maduro was an illegitimate leader who lost in 2024, which is why we're replacing him with his VP instead of the person who won in 2024. We did this to stop fentanyl, which is why he's indicted for cocaine.

We're also occupying Venezuela via Zoom call.

The US produces >13 mn barrels of oil per day. Venezuela produces <1 million bpd

There's a global oil glut i.e. lower prices. That's bad for US producers, who need higher prices to break even. Hard to imagine they're eager to make big new investments in an unstable place w/ decrepit infrastructure

Rubio is claiming that they did not need Congress permission because it was a law enforcement mission. The US is behaving as a global police state, extending its own arbitrary legal decisions to the whole world.

This is not a problem just for Venezuela.

Someone made $400K by predicting Maduro's capture. Here's what happened
The winnings come as the rules governing prediction markets are still evolving.
