With… all that’s going on in the world, I figured I’d publish the Finnish conjugation practice app I made for myself - no frills (okay, a few frills) but free, no ads, and I’ll be updating it periodically:)

language change is so powerful- I cannot believe I just heard my 80-something year old grandfather use "hashtag" in a context where I was 1000% expecting him to say "pound sign" or similar (i.e. not a context in which it was being used as an actual tag of any kind)

California – this Election Day, vote yes on Prop 50.

California’s Prop 50 says that if Republicans are going to abuse the system to try and hang onto power, we’re going to counteract that abuse and create a level playing field in the midterm elections.

Make a plan to vote yes on Prop 50.

Dude, this is just a shout-out to @jspsych.org and its flexibility - wanted a quick and fun way to practice some vocabulary late last night so took <1hr to build a memory-game plugin that I can scale for practice now!

Bonus points if you get the language :)

I’ve never seen a company tank their users’ goodwill as quickly as Duolingo has with the new energy system. Did they do ANY user testing on that system before pushing it? Folks on the fora for other language learning apps are literally referring to themselves as “energy refugees”…

Award-winning pain researcher here. This is not something that can be done. Hope this helps.
“In nursing homes, neonatal units, and ICU wards, researchers are racing to turn pain—medicine’s most subjective vital sign—into something a camera or sensor can score as reliably as blood pressure.”

I love how many hats linguistics lets me wear.

There's the social sciences hat, the humanities hat, the data science hat, and even the physics and biology hats!

If only I had more heads to wear all hats at once!

⚠️ Chinese researchers have invented bone glue that mimics how oysters stick to surfaces underwater.

The adhesive can reportedly repair orthopedic fractures in 2-3 minutes, even in blood-rich environments, and is bioabsorbable.
