Reminded of this old #FairyTaleFlash

He kissed the princess, smiled as she woke. She struck so fast that he didn’t have time to stop smiling before he fell to the floor. When there was nothing left but his bones, she smiled back at him, then returned to her bed to sleep and wait for her true love.
Snow White? Vampire. Cinderella? Vampire. Sleeping Beauty? Oh, you better believe she was a vampire.

They succeeded in making the world turn away from Gaza by announcing a ceasefire that Israel has not adhered to. It continues to kill, destroy, and block food and medicine. The war has not stopped; it has only become more brutal, as the victims are now in complete isolation.Do not forget my family 💔
We are in urgent need of protection and a safe place to live. We’re raising support to help us escape danger and rebuild our lives in safety. Every contribution, no matter how small, brings us one step closer to security and hope. 💛

A reminder that this anti-trans panic is 100% bullshit and exactly none of our country’s problems are related to someone expressing their gender identity and everyone who isn’t a hate-filled weirdo knows it.

Its whispers are bad enough, of course. Its howls are bad enough. But not the worst. If you’ve listened to the wind, you know that there’s worse than when the wind only whispers to you, only howls at you.

She was not in the habit of listening to the wind, so she didn’t know. (1/6)

look I know being an engaged citizen IS the work of democracy but it is also the work of elected officials not to create situations where everyone has to be mobilized all the time to prevent them from allowing some kind of Dickensian horror on a Sunday night while you're in between loads of laundry

The thing about me is I don’t believe in magic, but the people who know me best all believe I’m a witch
the thing about me is I think astrology is bunk and yet tarot is cool as hell, believe -utterly- that my best friend is a witch but would feel like an ass even trying candle magic.

I might roll my eyes at someone's Psychic Knowledge about me but neither will I disrespect good luck charm, you get me
I have other little superstitions going for me this month, I'm hangin' on, no worries

If you want a sapphic focused interrogation of Jane Eyre (and Castle Rackrent) this is the one.

It's so nuanced, well-written and historically informed. A delight to read. But it will haunt you.
16) The Wife in the Attic by Rose Lerner

This book has been haunting me since I first read it (Kit's face at the door for anyone who's read it without spoilering it for the rest of you!) Such an interesting sapphic retelling of the governess story with moral quandaries and no easy answers.
