None of this is a sign of strength and there is no plan. It's a tremendous show of weakness. Trump is creating chaos and flinging everything at the wall like a mad king. They're losing and they know it but like cornered animals that makes them more dangerous.

The transformation of ICE into a type of national police force, backed, in some cases, by soldiers from the National Guard, has been covered as immigration story—but these forces are reshaping democracy for all of us.

The agent responds, "Have you all not learned from the past couple of days?"

The decision has been made to break an American city. It is an experiment. We must do all we can (legally) to help Minneapolis hold on.
if you want to know what it is like in minneapolis, I don’t even have to scroll on facebook to find a horror story. it’s basically my whole feed.

everyone i know in minneapolis is seeing ICE take people—at gas stations, taquerias, bus stops, schools. just snatching random people.

not sure what it says about me that my main takeaway is wondering if papyrus bound in leather is a thing. surely they mean parchment?
A Pennsylvania Magistrate Judge (our version of a District Court judge) has had a judicial conduct complaint filed against her for, amongst other things, creating an “ancient leather bound tome” with “papyrus pages” that describes, in part, a local lawyer as a dick.

my take is that I have never done cocaine but seeing “Vance’s twisted and wrongheaded view of Christianity has been repudiated by two popes” printed in one of the country’s largest Catholic publications hits like I imagine cocaine feels
@clairewillett.bsky.social would love to hear your take on this!
Editorial in the National Catholic Reporter: "The vice president's comments justifying the death of Renee Good are a moral stain on the collective witness of our Catholic faith. His repeated attempts to blame Good for her own death are fundamentally incompatible with the Gospel."

Thinking about the time someone on one of my forums got bat'leths and mezuzahs mixed up.
Great at tripping an enemy, hooking their weapon, or throwing them off-balance. Fantastic for close-in defense against a blade.

Mediocre at cutting, which is unfortunate, given that it's... you know, a blade. But nasty enough in a thrust or chop to do serviceable work.

One reason I favor impeaching Noem is because it's a political process for a political problem. No, this will not stop ICE enforcement action but YES it would be an opportunity to educate the public about DHS & perhaps begin to lay a foundation for dismantling it.

Great suggestion for anyone whose parents don't automatically dismiss something specifically because you're the one who brought it up.
tip for parent management: my parents were asking me about chatGPT, and have some friends who love it, and none of my attempts to caution them were as successful as just sending them the Wikipedia page for AI hallucinations

My high school world history teacher had this take. He was also minimally literate and liked to speculate about living in medieval Europe where "everyone had good breath because they only drank water."
On X, a senior U.S. Justice Department official is promoting a post that praises colonization as “one of the greatest things that ever happened to the backwards parts of the world.”👇
