This video, viewed millions of times on TikTok, Facebook and X, claims to show Venezuelans taking to the street to thank the US for detaining Maduro.

But the video is a combination of four AI-generated clips and was first posted on TikTok by a user who frequently shares AI videos. It's not real.

Two years ago 😞😢💔

Here my father is buried. In that moment, I lost the most precious person in the world.

He was my support, and I always leaned on his shoulder, but now I don't know who to complain to or who to talk to about my difficult life.😢😞😢😞😢😞😢😞💔💔💔💔💔💔

We are dying slowly before the world's silence. Does anyone hear us?

ITV NEWS out here calling a deadly illegal invasion "Trump's new and muscular foreign policy." These shitmounds will normalise anything without blinking. Might as well suck your news out of a rotten corpse.

Reminder that almost a quarter century ago, Schumer voted for the Hague Invasion Act, declaring that the US would militarily invade the Hague were it ever to be prosecuted by ICC for war crimes.

Biden did too, it was an overwhelmingly bipartisan agreement to be unaccountable to international law.
Look at how many names on this list are *still in power*, still kicking around. They weren't exactly young then, but now a lot of them are much much richer.

Debbie Wasserman Schultz called Maduro's capture "welcome news" but criticized Trump for "apparently failing to notify Congress beforehand".

This is the neoliberal position in a nutshell: Substantively fine with regime change and imperial power projection, just mad about process.

Now Maduro is Trump’s problem, the opposition has been thrown under the bus and the regime is carrying on business as usual. Another decapitation strike is unlikely to work, and (as I’ve argued many times in the context of Taiwan) a seaborne invasion will fail.

On the face of it, the Venezuelan regime has played Trump for a sucker. The details are murky but it appears that now-acting president Rodriguez convinced Rubio that she would accept a US take-over and that the US was given the location of Maduro (and his wife).

STEPHANOPOULOS: Why wasn't congressional authorization necessary?

RUBIO: It wasn't necessary because this was not an invasion. We didn't occupy a country. This was an arrest operation.
