I've had another surge of followers (hello!) so it's (re)introduction time.

I'm a UK-based freelance illustrator.

I offer human-powered book artwork for indie authors and small press publishers: covers, interior illustrations, maps, and character art.

“Artifact” is a watercolor painting I created to express how it feels to have my life’s work violated & scraped to fuel gen AI programs without consent and or compensation. And for what? Slop no one asked for.

Thank you for supporting human artists!

"Your Party" using AI generated art for their promo material. Another disappointment from a party that loses more credibility by the day.
Okay, I can't let this one go. I live in Ireland, not the UK, but the use of this image by a supposedly socialist party is so stupid and offensive, I'm going to get stuck in.

Let me explain to you why any experienced illustrator/designer could have stopped you making so many miserable mistakes. 1/

One year ago today I posted this miniature They Live Photo I created.

Shot using two photos one of the Statue of Liberty the other of the They Live Alien then superimposed the face over the top. Cotton wool was used for the sky.

This is the most photoshopping I've done in a photo

My latest sketch portrait: Catwoman. Did you guess?

I did record a time-lapse of this one but it's too long for BlueSky. It will be posted on my Threads account imminently, if you're interested in seeing it.

I'm not sure that pixelating it to preserve the surprise is working that well! I think it's pretty clear who this one is.

I know I'm late to this, but we've just watched Bridget Christie's brilliant comedy drama The Change (Channel 4).

Really disappointed to find out they aren't bringing it back for a third series.

Imagine dedicating your life to art—writing, painting, composing, whatever—and then you get online and some pro AI asshole is like, “If you hate AI you hate art.” Just…no. Shut the fuck up and go sit on a cactus.

Just went through these settings, changing some, and came back to a homepage with a ton more posts, none of which were actually rude or offensive in any way, they were apparently just randomly labelled as such. 🙄
Wondering why no one likes your posts anymore, even among your friends? It's because @jay.bsky.team and team have decided to hide a huge amount of content from all of our feeds by default.

Here's how to turn it off.

Past the ruins and up to the walls, like a ruinous tide they come. To cut the villages down.

Led by Mwindaji they come.
