My favorite addition to this comic was someone saying "hmmmmm as long as he's being responsible i guess it's fine" and me being like "if only there was some kind of slogan about power and responsibility"

I sometimes wonder how much of D&D's staying power is that it creates the opportunity for roleplaying but the design doesn't really *require* that it happen.

(I also sometimes wonder if 4E's big challenge was that it failed to obscure this well enough)

Well, this got even BETTER.
Absolutely obsessed with this look by Chappell but she's not Joan of Arc, but Julie D’Aubigny! She was a 17th c. bisexual French opera singer who performed in drag and bested men in duels. Her lesbian lover was once sent to a convent for being gay and she set the convent on fire to free her. An icon

I am participating and none of my panels require the lottery (links to come). Flights is a wonderful free convention— follow them and find out more.
We ran the lottery today! There are still a few sessions with open seats (those were added to the program late) but the waiting list for most of the sessions is long and deep. You'll be hearing from us over the next few days with results if you entered the lottery.

Wins for Oppenheimer and Godzilla Minus One mean this is the first time a movie and its sequel both won Oscars the same year.

In the world of D&D there is every incentive for human criminals to blame their crimes on dangerous monsters everyone knows exist, even going as far as making elaborate costumes and using magic.

What I’m saying is that Scooby Doo is a perfectly viable and underused campaign concept.

Every time someone posts a picture of a celebrity with the assumption that everyone knows who that is because their brains are good with faces and they have Netflix, those of us who aren't and don't turn to alt text.

[extremely Suzanne Vega voice]

I am sitting
in the morning
in a lone and
level desert
there are two legs
vast and trunkless
and a visage
shattered half-sunk
and the pedestal beside it
reads “my name is Ozymandias
I’m the king of kings and you shall
look on my works and despair”

I love this thread.

I once got an R so harsh, I nearly gave up on shorts. It said: this is a seed of an idea and not worth a story.

This story went on to sell at a pro rate market, and was my very first SFF sale.

What I learned: Keep writing. Everything is subjective. Asian stories matter.
Right, let me say something, that some people might not like.

SFF presses are closing. It's a saddening reality. However, for many, submitting to some venues reinforces the feeling of not good enough.

The rejections are hurtful and not actually nice.

Why?

Let me tell you from having worked accident investigations with a forensic specialist that more than one brand of car copies your entire text message history in its storage.

All of it.

Happy Fructidor! It's almost time for the month of Vintage.
