Author of cozy fantasy fiction for Arkham Horror, Cobalt City, Dungeons & Dragons + more. Also wanders about Seattle arts scene and collects books.
Always be ready to rescue your guy!
In the 1910s, there was a major gender disparity in action films: men were constantly getting themselves into peril (tied up and threatened by a death trap by moonshiners, in this case) and it was up to the women to ride to the rescue.

So I just found out about a book detailing animal ghosts published in 1913. People, I do not need one more thing to collect...but how many books have been written about animal ghosts?

Dishwasher repaired (jubilation!). Speaking of clogs, I found an article acceptance in the spam folder today. Always check these folders -- I haven't had this happen in a very long time but it's been a week. Happy Thursday.

Back when I was writing guides to collecting children's books, I would often pick up various copies of the same book to show how covers changed. Like a 1950s edition of When We Were Young. The cover would change again in the 1960s and so on. Discounted now on Biblio: www.biblio.com/search.php?s...

Let it be known that I love Christmas ornaments and have a whole tree worth of memories. Which does not appear until December 5 or so. Now is the time for china pumpkins and glass turkeys on the mantle. (Sparked by overwhelming guilt for buying cute Christmas cards yesterday).

The shelves are overflowing, so I'm spending Friday doing a little rearranging. Also discounting all the books on Biblio through the weekend. Several RPG, Oz, and genre fiction lovelies are ready for a new home. www.biblio.com/bookstore/lo...?

Bundle up. This is often drafty venue, but such a good crowd of artists. I'm going to try to make it this year.
Mentioning this now for those that might want to plan for small business support Thanksgiving weekend! Geek Craft Expo Seattle is my last show of the year - $2 to get in the door for Sat or Sun. It's like an artist alley without the convention cost ;)

Rolling through the day, getting stuff done, and feeling remarkably efficient. Then opened the dishwasher and found it full of water. Shaking fist at universe and fetching the old towels out of the closet. May your Tuesday evening be more entertaining.

Some US schools that deliberately recruited women. One in Portland OR because the aerial circuses did well with female performers (they drew crowds). Also a US airplane manufacturer advertised their aircraft as "so easy" to fly that a woman could do it (Sigh but it paid to train women).
Legendary wing walker Lillian Boyer at work.

WW1, the availability of war surplus aircraft after it and the many flight schools that popped up, created an explosion of opportunity for female aviators.

E.g. the schools that didn't want take women quickly discovered that economically they needed to.
