Blade Maidens, Dead in the Water, page 23. Rowan, Mel, and Perch come to, given a magical bubble of air beneath the water thanks to Rowan's magical ability. Perch teases, hoping to have an easy way out due to drowning, but the moment is quickly passed when Mel realizes they are swiftly surrounded by merfolk in waiting. A large merperson steps forward, clad in armor and helmet, which they removed to show a stingray-esque face and warrior body - clearly a mer-person with power and sway. All parties left in the moment to prepare for the impending conversation.

an inked double page spread from blade maidens issue 5, dead in the water. it features an epic chaotic battle between merfolk and the crew of the harpy's talon. the captain, sword raised, in front, mel in wolf form mauling a mer person and taking a bit out of their neck. ser locked in a fight with her sword against a mer person's blade. mer folk hanging from the sails and ropes above the ship and climbing over, the crew surprised and trying desperately to hold their own. all of this occurs in the dark of night.

Page 18 of Blade Maidens issue 5, Dead In The Water. The page begins looking down into a cracked open barrel which houses a hiding mer person. Ser grabs them and hauls them out, declaring them a spy and asking for an explanation. The mer person, named Perch, declares they are a princess on the run, but due to mel's ability to smell a lie, mel makes them "try again". That in addition to a panel focus of all of the gold, goods, and treasure also spilled out of the barrel, Perch gives up the charade and admits to the lie, gives their name. and prepares to get further into it, amused, with the crew.
