You can test new tech ideas using the Seinfeld Test

Would the product eliminate the plot of an episode? (Google maps, cell phones, paypal, battery packs)

Good tech.

Would the product inspire new Seinfeld plots? (NFTs, AI chatbots, crypto currency, blindboxes, metaverse land sales)

Bad tech.

Today's high: An actual professional editor read my novel's opening and responded "This really worked for me! I enjoyed the voice...I liked this as a prologue!"

Mildly interesting:

Reading an old Tennyson poem from the early 1800s and he refers casually to the known use of bay leaves to add piquancy to custard. I'd never heard of this, but apparently it was once quite common. Seems like the rare dish where bay could shine.

AI in science fiction: "Skynet became self-aware and launched a nuclear strike, followed by an army of sentient robots"

AI in real life: "Why, yes, drinking bleach *might* work! Here's my suggestion for your dinner!"

Pro-AI people: Look how good AI is at this thing AI is good at!

Anti-AI people: Look how bad AI is at this thing AI is bad at!

Any interaction between the two: *incoherent screeching*

Can we please, for the love of God, move past this stage of the debate?

Articles like this really highlight a trend in tech companies that I keep meaning to post about. I basically posit that enshittification is all the fault of the Divine Right of Kings arstechnica.com/gadgets/2025...
Dumping Google’s enshittified search for Kagi
Enough is enough: I’ve jettisoned Google in favor of a search engine that doesn’t treat me like a product.

The White House was forced to react to South Park as Trump completely loses it with rage, calling the show “not relevant” and "hanging on by a thread," despite the show recently securing a $1.5 billion deal.

This is genius level work by Ned and Wayne showcasing the power of comics to tell a story and educate. When I teach comics [Sequential Narrative] my presentation also starts with the Lascaux Caves and includes Egyptian hieroglyphics and the Bayeux Tapestry. Even safety cards on a plane are comics!
One my favourite Bananaman comics I’ve ever done is a time travel story where the art style matched the era. Wayne Thompson’s art is so lovely in this.
