You can’t tell if someone is disabled just by looking at them.

There’s no such thing as the “genuinely disabled”.

You are not entitled to a person’s entire medical history just so you can decide whether to believe them or not.

People are not faking disability, most are trying to fake being well.

Contrary to Trump's dangerous tirade, U.S. military service members have a right to refuse illegal orders and even a duty to do so.

Everyone in the military swears an oath to the Constitution, not to a particular president of the United States or anyone else in the chain of command.

One of the strangest aspects of aging that they don't warn you about is watching as history gets rewritten right in front of your face and people 20 years younger than you confidently tell you about something you lived through and get it completely wrong.

Last thing: if you’re in the position to need this advice, don’t deny yourself small pleasures. First, psychologically, restricting yourself makes it more likely you will have a fraught moment and spend more than you want. But more importantly:

You are living through a shitshow.

I worked for a small food pantry for a while. The can of beans you paid $1 for would cost us 20 cents through our connections.

Give money directly if you can. You can literally multiply the amount of food your donation can provide by 3-5x just by giving cash directly.
If you can afford it, a *monetary* donation (it goes a lot farther!) to your local food bank would be a most excellent thing to do right now.
I want more people to care that SNAP benefits are being cut off on November 1. 40% of SNAP beneficiaries are children. This is callous and vile.

This is incompetence. Johnson is unable to do his job and should be removed.
Today, Mike Johnson will keep the House adjourned for the 81st day out of the last 93.

12 days of work in over 3 months.

With full pay and benefits.

The senate has been working, so this is not about the shutdown.

It is about avoiding a vote to release the Epstein files.

If a Black person commits a crime the Black community is demonized. Catch the alleged murderer of the Right’s mouthpiece, not one description mentioned he was white. He was described by age and name and living in Utah. Had he been Black he’d be labeled addict, thug, stop, he would have been dead.

While you weren't looking, *seventeen* House Democrats just voted to strip basic rights from trans members of the military and helped the GOP pass their far-right version of the NDAA, similar to what we reported on.

This is the most Dems voting for anti-trans legislation in Congress this year.

the problem with letting democrats backslide their support of trans rights whether it be trans in sports or using bathrooms is we’ve seen “compromise” in the UK labor party. they gave into “reasonable” TERF demands and it destroyed the labor party and all rights for trans people

it’s cool and important to give a shit, and to look for ways to help each other.
