HAPPENING NOW IM with 300 antizionist Jews occupying the ferry building in San Francisco to call for an end to the starvation of Gaza.

I reject the premise that Jews, or anyone, deserve or need a "homeland" if that's defined as a state for them that they control. I'm an antizionist Jew. Where's my homeland? Do I get to go kick the zionists out of Israel so antizionist Jews can have a homeland?

Friendly reminder that dishwashers made after 1995 or so are so water and energy efficient that even if you ran them twice fully loaded it would still use less water than handwashing the same load.

So many "green" things feel like sacrifices. Dishwashers are not one of them.

I don't usually give a rat's ass about industry awards, but Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 definitely deserves GOTY, and Lorien Testard also deserves an award for his stunning music
What a privilege to be nominated, not only for 2025 GAME OF THE YEAR, but also TWELVE??!! TOTAL NOMINATIONS at #TheGameAwards

There are so many deserving, precious games from this year, and to be nominated among them makes us SO SO very whee 🥹

THANK YOU!!

I finished reading (listening to?) Circe (by Madeleine Miller) and it was very good! It's a different type of story from The Song of Achilles, but I think it was a smart choice for a retelling of another famous character in Greek mythology.

The landscapes in #GOYgame are all beautiful, but the mountains really are something else. I kind of just want to hike around them and look at those Suckerpunch views.

pre-writing a devastating obituary for your enemy is god-tier hating of a kind you don’t often see anymore. renaissance haterism. beautiful stuff.
A Sharon Begley byline, almost 5 years after her death.

Upon hearing the news James Watson had died, a STAT reporter said in our Slack, "I wish I could read what Sharon would have written."

Incredible news: Sharon in fact did pre-write a Watson obit. And it is masterful and excoriating.

I feel like we have the opportunity to turn David Lynch's quote into this moment's "Keep Calm and Carry On" and it's a far better rallying cry too.

The Song of Achilles hit all of my GOOD FANFICTION buttons. I feel like Miller approached the mythology of Achilles with an extremely fannish gaze. She filled in all the gaps and fleshed out the characters by doing the same kind of things that fic writers do.

(this is a compliment)

Trying to watch television before the cats' dinner time is like:

"I don't care if I die, because--"

"Fine then, I don't --"

(We paused #SKKS to try and hug & pet Meenie into shushing so we could enjoy the dramatic scene before this one. It did not work.)

I haven't been in the headspace to read any fanfiction for the past couple of years, but I'm currently halfway through The Song of Achilles, so close enough?

Good study design to do a remote trial that doesn't require participants to travel or attend in-person clinic visits!
We've just launched the first large, site-less (home, direct to participant) randomized trial for treatment of #LongCovid, testing tirzepatide (a GLP-1 drug) vs placebo. Please help spread the word
