Joy of Life S2 would be a top tier show for me, but there's no women so it gets downgraded

I reject the premise that Jews, or anyone, deserve or need a "homeland" if that's defined as a state for them that they control. I'm an antizionist Jew. Where's my homeland? Do I get to go kick the zionists out of Israel so antizionist Jews can have a homeland?

Ruoruo and Wan'er are criminally underused 😑 and that part about the show really annoys me

The biggest giveaway that the writer is male is the fact the women in the show get no screentime and are pretty lackluster. I enjoy the the scheming and the social commentary on the endemic systemic corruption in China.

Bixia just being a sinister black box mystery is also the most interesting.

Yes! She's the best fanfic writer I've ever read, and I'm glad I have given her my money.

I liked how often Achilles and Patroclus were mentioned in the text of Circe. The shoehorning them in into the narrative felt extremely fannish to me (in a good way).

Like, "look at these blorbos! Remember these blorbos? They're still kissing!"

I wasn't sure how Miller was going to put Circe with Telemachus, but that worked well and deftly.

All together it was a very good read, and I think those of my friends here who recommended it.

It is such a shame that long Covid did such a number on Madeline Miller.

I think it was also a very interesting perspective on Odysseus, his journey, why he took so long to return from Troy, and the effect that his personality and his priorities had on his family back home in Ithaca.

I liked its feminist perspective, and I think that it had an interesting take on witchcraft and where the power in witchcraft and being a witch came from. It had interesting things to say about the position of women in Greek myths, and the differences between gods and mortals.
