Happy Thanksgiving from Gertie, the drunk flowers in our yard that are still producing, the free decorative gourds I came across yesterday while in Hampden, the cats, @libcloudcity and me!

Whoops, we got sucked into the MST3K movie and forgot to turn on NPR for the annual Alice’s Restaurant song break.

Two medical appointments out of three = complete! Unfortunately the less fun one is early Friday morning.

Getting greek delivery on a blustery day was a good life decision.

We need to remember what’s important in life: Friends, waffles, work. Or waffles, friends, work. Doesn’t matter, but work is third.

Rudy Bridges is younger than the Sitting President of the United States and 29 sitting United States Senators
It’s useful for people of my generation to be reminded that this wasn’t that long ago. Ruby Bridges isn’t just still alive—she’s only 71, not ancient!
65 years ago on Nov. 14, little Ruby Bridges was escorted into an all-white elementary school in New Orleans. Norman Rockwell, renowned for blissful depictions of Americana, did this remarkable painting for Look magazine. Printed as a double page, over-size spread, it's his masterpiece.

Gertie’s seasonal outfit for November. But the Wednesday Adams goth look really is year round fashion in this house.

We also lost Dr. Susan Wood this year.

In 2005 she resigned from the FDA in protest when George W Bush’s FDA director rejected evidence-based recommendations to make Plan B available without a prescription.

Later, Obama would also wring his hands over making it accessible.

I like how they didn’t even give us 24 hour notice before reporting back to work, because who cares if the peasants need advanced notice to arrange childcare or transportation?

The best way to show that MAGA is not part of some dark authoritarian movement is to remove professors who suggest that it is
Indiana University removed a Lecturer from her "Diversity, Human Rights, and Social Justice" course after a student filed a complaint about a graphic the instructor showed in class, which included "Make America Great Again" as an example of "Covert White Supremacy."

I can’t decide if scheduling 2 medical appointments for before 8 AM on the days before and after Thanksgiving is genious or something I’ll regret.

I finally encountered a magat at my medical appointment, of all places. I’ll definitely be reporting them in my post-visit survey.

Everything is freezing overnight (we might get snow flurries!) so this is really the final garden harvest of the season. I’ll cut and dry some herbs from the back deck too.

Some thoughts on the CR/minibus.

1 The Dems negotiating with Rs were not freelancing. They coordinated with Sen Schumer. A few were ready to give in on day one, others worked to maximize appropriations wins.

Those voting for the 'deal' are the ones furthest away from electoral consequences.

reminder: the heritage foundation is trying to co-opt feminism. they’ve achieved this in the uk via transphobia. they’re now doing it in the usa by claiming that the ‘problem’ is ‘liberal feminism’ and the solution is ‘conservative feminism’( aka sexism ).
