There's a long history of bikes as tools of resistance. And for good reason!
I have a lengthy video of a long chase yesterday, including one maniacal e-bike rider who was absolutely giving the ICE Wagoneers hell. They’d try to lose us in traffic but the bike didn’t care about traffic
It occurs to me that it also depends on how fast ICE can go in that particular neighborhood. Big streets/no traffic would make bikes less useful because they couldn't keep up, but on narrower downtown streets with traffic, an ebike could easily outpace cars.

I suspect the industry will be fine. In the last two years I've seen a huge proliferation of people on e-bikes in Chicago. There are too many companies trying to make and sell them, however. Many of these companies sell dangerous garbage. They'll fade away and that's a good thing.
It’s not just Rad Power. A wave of e-bike bankruptcies is rocking the industry.

But e-bike believers should keep the faith. These vehicles are useful, fun, and affordable. They’re here to stay.

The rise of mass automobility has fueled a culture where tens of thousands of car crash deaths are deemed acceptable by the powerful in the interest of keeping cars moving.

The killing of Renee Nicole Good offers a disturbing reminder of the other side of that coin.

Immigrations and Customs Enforcement officers have been brutalizing and killing people who they perceive as threats. Is mass automobility multiplying their pretext to do it?

A great example of how you don't need protected bike lanes on residential streets if you do traffic calming correctly.

Protected bike lanes should be for arterial roads.
When you remove through motor traffic from residential streets, they don’t just become safer for walking and cycling - they become places to live. Neighbours add benches, sit outside, and the street becomes an extension of home.

This is what a healthy neighbourhood looks like.

This is from Saturday. Vehicles parked at the start/end of protected bike lanes are a big problem for riders. I politely brought this to the driver’s attention but he was a complete jerk about it. He refused to move the vehicle.
