This is why Minnesotans are begging folks outside the state to keep talking about us.

Please don’t let the world forget we are still in danger.
This is the aftermath of an ICE kidnapping a few blocks from my home in St. Paul—an hour ago. A quiet street full of broken glass and at least three wrecked cars. The target of the kidnapping was taken away by ambulance. He was on a stretcher and covered by a sheet, though a cop said he was alive.

I feel like it says something that ICE agent's worst fears is basically just existing while marginalized. Like I sincerely cannot even conceptualize the idea of community inclusion. I've always been the one bullied kids bully to not be the bottom rung. Oh no your many friends hate you now?

“ICE aren’t actually fearful of their safety. What they’re fearful of is not being invited to baseball games or not being invited to the pub with their friends. Community exclusion – that’s what they’re fearful of.”

One more time:

If you need security cameras, Reolink combined with Home Assistant are you best bet.

They don't require an internet connection and using them via Home Assistant means you control who sees what as it's your own server and not an open connection to everyone online.
Ring is a wildly dangerous company. Always has been. But it has sort of flown under the radar the last couple years as it tried to soften its image. Make no mistake that this is an extremely dangerous surveillance dragnet:

When a sitting representative refers to the Super Bowl halftime show as “pornography,” people should use that to reflect on how they and other representatives are simultaneously working to ban, censor, and restrict “pornography” and what that actually means

I think collectively, we at least partially wanted the child at the Super Bowl to be Liam because the little boy on stage looked happy and healthy and our hearts want so badly to think these children can somehow magically recover from the evils our government is doing.
Super Bowl viewers Sunday speculated that 5-year-old Liam Conejo Ramos appeared in the halftime show. In fact, he has been in hiding with his family.

“He can’t sleep well at night. He wakes up three or four times a night screaming, ‘Daddy, Daddy,’” Liam's father Adrian Conejo Arias, said.
‘He’s not the same’: Father of Liam Conejo Ramos says 5-year-old continues to suffer
Some people thought they say the 5-year-old during the Super Bowl halftime show. But Liam is still in hiding with his family, after he and his father were detained and then released from a Texas deten...

She's right. The gradual closing of the internet with "save the children" as a wedge issue is progressing and will only serve authoritarians.

We need more political organization around these issues - not just targeting Discord, but targeting the governments that encourage and enable this behaviour.
I’m glad to see people protesting Discord forcing IDs for age verification, but what I need everyone to understand is that there’s immense bipartisan pressure to make the entire internet like this, and they are likely going to succeed unless something drastic happens

Also like in general

You can't go anywhere online without being assault by fucked up porn ads nowadays, xitter literally lets you generate CSAM.

But almost every site now bans tasteful pinups and spicier queer art even if it's SFW. Discord is one of the few exceptions, especially for serious porn
"Don't worry about the Discord thing, it's only NSFW servers and channels that will require age verification! :)"

I could remove every speck of risque imagery/topics from my community and there's still a 50% chance we'd get flagged just because we're openly queer.

It's not actually about the kids.
February 10, 2026 at 2:06 AM
Oh this is the better case scenario, how about this one:

Child makes ChatGPT account as afaik it does not ask for age

Generate fake ID with a single button press

Child now has access to discord AND a bot that has encouraged multiple people to commit suicide.

Such safety improvement!
here's the thing, if i were a minor who wanted 18+ content access on discord, the steps would be:
-wait for mom to get in the shower
-yoink the ID from her purse and take a photo of it
-done! and unlike using a credit card for verification she won't be notified. until her identity gets stolen lol

The worst part about it is it's everything now and it's so frequent. Anyone on bluesky has ALREADY had to uproot from twitter! There's a lot of worrying signs bluesky could do something stupid in the near future too! And you never manage to keep all contacts every time you have to move.
Like it's fuckin bullshit. Actually leave us the fuck alone. Jesus christ every fucking day we have to deal with some bullshit that would define a year in the past and now they're like "teehee no group chat for you" FUCK OFF

i tried to send an email to discord to offer feedback. instead, they redirected me to their feedback forum -- which requires posts to be approved.

it looks like there hasn't been a single post on the forum approved in at least 2-3 months. most threads are as old as 10+ months. awesome stuff.

If you live in the US, call your fucking representatives and tell them that repealing Section 230 is a horrible idea. If Section 230 is gone, you can kiss Bluesky goodbye.
Reminder that they're still trying to repeal section 230 (thereby making platform holders like bsky legally responsible for content posted by their users etc etc)

There is still a need for you to blow up your rep's phones on this if you enjoy being able to do things like "post" or "have an porn"

I get that question a lot.
So I made this guide.
